Whenever you hear “undisclosed illness” on an NFL injury report, you might as well go ahead and assume it’s a staph infection. OK, I’m only partially kidding, but such was the case with Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow last week. His recent “undisclosed illness” was kept quiet because the team has had an alarming number of staph infections over the past few years and they didn’t want the news getting out. Apparently there is a lot of interest in former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley. Since his release from the Browns a little more than a month ago, LeCharles has been “sifting through different offers” according to his agent Jonathan Feinsod. Jonathan wouldn’t speculate on the odds of LeCharles joining a team before the opening of training camp and declined to comment about his client visiting any teams.

Cleveland Browns offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley was cleared to practice with the team at their minicamp which began today. LeCharles hasn’t played in a game since 2005 where he was a two-time All-Pro with the Saints. After being picked up as a free agent by the Browns following that 2005 season, it’s been nothing but frustration for all involved. LeCharles went down on the first day of contact drills in 2006 training camp with a torn patella tendon. After surgery to repair the tendon, he tore it slightly again and then suffered …read more
