N.Y. Jets quarterback Brett Favre acknowledged today that he spoke to former Detroit Lions president Matt Millen a few weeks ago, but denied reports he called Matt and gave him and Lions coaches information they could use in a game against the Green Bay Packers:

The Detroit Lions have had very little to cheer about so far this season. They’re winless after three games and getting beaten in pretty much every statistical category. But today, there seems to be hope. Team Owner and Chairman William Clay Ford announced that Matt Millen has been relieved of his duties (a nice way of saying he was fired) as President and CEO even though he had three years left on a five-year contract extension he signed in 2005. Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz said it was a “dream come true” when the team selected Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. The Lions’ fans at Ford Field on draft day felt the same way as they let out a loud roar of approval when Commissioner Goodell announced the team’s pick in New York.
