Ten games into the 2008 season, Edgerrin James wanted out of Arizona. Five days from now he’s starting in the Super Bowl. What a difference two months makes. Can you imagine? Edge actually wanted to be released by the Cards. And this was before the team lost four of their final six games. He might have ended up in Detroit or Cincinnati. Which would put him at home on his couch this weekend. Or in a depression clinic. He persevered, though, and he’s back in the starting spot he lost to Tim Hightower.

Matt Leinart’s journey to the role of backup quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals is almost as interesting as Kurt Warner’s ascension to the starting spot. At Super Bowl XLIII Media Day this morning, Matt didn’t have a podium (like Kurt) or a lot of interested ears. But he certainly had a story. Here’s a guy who was on top of the world as the quarterback for the USC Trojans and then drafted to be the franchise QB and face and future of the Arizona Cardinals. Ben was 9-of-21 passing for 123 yards with no touchdowns. And two interceptions. At Super Bowl XLIII Media Day today, Ben explained his new approach to the latest biggest game of his career:
“I’m treating it more like a game. Yeah, it’s a Super Bowl and we have an opponent, but it’s just about having fun. I treated it like a big game the first time and it didn’t work …read more

Not only is Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark lucky to be in the Super Bowl. He’s lucky to be alive. Just a little over a year ago, Ryan had dropped 35 pounds after surgery to remove his inflamed and infected spleen. His gall bladder was removed the next month. But not only has he returned to the playing field, he’s thriving as a starting safety on the NFL’s top-rated defense. In fact, he was 4th on the team in tackles this season. Ryan talked about his journey during Super Bowl XLIII Media Day this afternoon:
“I …read more
