Defensive tackle Tank Johnson was activated by the Dallas Cowboys earlier this week after serving an eight-game suspension for violating probation on a weapons charge. But he hasn’t been talking to the media all week and he won’t until after the Cowboys game Sunday against the Giants.
This is one action I feel shows that Tank is on the right path. Whether this was his idea or a brainstorm from his agent or the Cowboys media relations department, it’s smart. By talking to the media, he’s only opening the door for potential distractions …read more
Should Tank Johnson Have Been Released?

In defense of Tank Johnson, it was announced today that his blood alcohol level was below the legal limit when he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving back on June 22. Tank’s blood alcohol level was .072, which was under the Arizona limit of .08 percent. Of course, he shouldn’t have been driving around with anywhere near the legal limit of alcohol in his blood anyway. No charges have been filed pending results of a completed investigation. The Chicago Bears have had enough of Tank Johnson. In the wake of yet another run-in with the law, the team released the troubled DT just three days after he was arrested for speeding and “DUI Impaired to the Slightest Degree.” In my post from June 22 I said “…this little episode will most likely cost him two more game checks — maybe more.” Well, the maybe more part came true. It was admirable that Tank Johnson said he wanted to change his ways and become the NFL’s “Man of the Year,” after violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy, but it appears he’s still got a ways to go. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he would be prepared to reduce the suspension from eight games to the first six regular-season games if Tank met certain conditions.
