What a difference a day can make. Amidst all the trash talking leading up to today’s Jets-Dolphins game, Dolphins receiver Ted Ginn Jr. was being chewed up and spit out by the media, the fans, and even his own teammates for not playing up to his potential as the 9th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Former Dolphins offensive lineman Bob Kuechenberg went so far as to call Ted “an embarrassment and a coward”—pretty strong words.

Donte Whitner Arrested, Released

Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner was zapped with a stun gun and then arrested outside a Cleveland night club last night. Apparently, Donte was at Miami Dolphins receiver Ted Ginn Jr.’s birthday party at the House of Blues. He was thrown in jail on suspicion of aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest but was then released without being charged with anything.
Donte would later release a statement through his agent, Neil Cornrich, saying it was not how he wises to conduct himself and apologized to all those involved. The Bills released a similarly generic statement saying they were aware of …read more

This is always the most interesting part of the Combine for me. The “skill” position players — QBs, RBs and WRs — face-off with all their drills. And there were plenty of high-profile athletes to watch.
Since JaMarcus Russell and Ted Ginn Jr. were sitting this out, both watching from the sidelines, projected top-five pick Calvin Johnson was on center stage and although he chose not to work out, he apparently borrowed a pair of shoes to run. It’s Day One of the 2007 NFL Scouting Combine. And it’s good to be back in Indianapolis. Today was sunny and in the mid-30s. There is still snow on the ground from the storm of a week ago.
