Bud Adams Shows Bills His Middle Fingers
November 16, 2009 by David Kindervater

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams stuck both of his middle fingers in the air like he just didn’t care yesterday as the Titans were wrapping up a 41-17 win over the Buffalo Bills. I’m not sure what would possess an 86-year-old man to do this in front of 70,000 people. It’s bad enough when a player does it, but when an owner goes down this road, it’s pretty embarrassing.
What’s with “the finger” anyway? It’s like the Jerry Seinfeld joke. It seems like such an arbitrary, ridiculous thing to just pick a finger and show it to someone. It’s a finger. …read more
Vince Young is Back, Titans Win First Game

After starting the season 0-6, the Tennessee Titans threw caution to the wind and let former starting quarterback Vince Young have his old job back. And following his 15-for-18 passing performance in a 30-13 win over the Jacksonville Jags this afternoon, maybe they wish they would’ve made that decision a few weeks ago. Actually, it was at the order of team owner Bud Adams that Vince start over Kerry Collins today. So head coach Jeff Fisher begrudgingly made the “official” announcement a few days ago and now the Titans have their first win of the 2009 season.
So, where does the …read more
Titans Owner Wants Vince Young to Start
October 27, 2009 by David Kindervater

After a surprisingly miserable 0-6 start, Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams has seen enough. Apparently, Mr. Adams has ordered head coach Jeff Fisher to bench starting quarterback Kerry Collins and start Vince Young. And while Kerry certainly can’t be blamed for all the team’s problems this season, I can’t think of a better time to make a decision like this than after your team loses a game 59-0, as the Titans did to New England two weekends ago.
But coach Fisher insisted any quarterback decision will be made between owner and coach:
“We’ve been communicating through the whole process, and we don’t …read more
Tom Brady Has Career Day, Patriots Roll

When you talk about career highs for Tom Brady, you know the numbers are going to be impressive. And as unlikely a setting as today was—with snow aplenty falling from the sky and accumulating on the ground throughout the game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough—the Boston New England Patriots destroyed the Houston Oilers Tennessee Titans 59-0 as Tom threw a career high six touchdown passes, five of them in the second quarter.
Tom has been under criticism for not performing up to his typically superhuman levels so far this season, but he now seems to be in “mid-season form,” as they …read more
Chris Johnson Momentos Headed to HOF

It’s been a busy week for FedEx shipments at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Yesterday, I wrote that Arizona Cards QB Kurt Warner was sending the jersey and a football from his record breaking game against the Jacksonville Jags Sunday. Now, Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is shipping stuff to the HOF after his monster performance Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Chris amassed 197 rushing yards, 87 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in a 34-31 loss. Amazingly, however, he was snubbed for the Week Two Offensive Player-of-the-Week award—which went to Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. Chris was good …read more
Andre Johnson is the NFL’s Best Receiver
September 21, 2009 by David Kindervater

Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson is the best in the NFL—not just because he has prototypical size (6′3″, 228), runs great routes, has great hands and led the league in receptions last season with 115. But because he does his job better than everyone else while still remaining humble about it. In an era of crybaby, diva receivers who crave attention, all for the glorification of their massive egos, Andre (and AZ Cards WR Larry Fitzgerald) are a breath of fresh air.
Yesterday was just another Sunday for Andre as he caught 10 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns—this while …read more
Troy Polamalu Out 3-6 Weeks With MCL Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have beaten the Tennessee Titans to open NFL Kickoff 2009 Weekend last night. But they lost a key member of their defense in the process. At least for a while. Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will be out an estimated 3-6 weeks with a sprained MCL in his left knee. Troy suffered the injury in the first half when he was trying to pick up and run with a fumble. He ended up doing a split when Titans tight end Alge Crumpler dropped all 262 pounds (and that’s being kind) on top of his knee. Ouch. Veteran …read more

America’s favorite sport is back in action tonight (NBC, 8:30 p.m. ET) in the first game of NFL Kickoff 2009 Weekend. This year, two 2008 division winners are featured as the Super Bowl XLIII champion Pittsburgh Steelers host the Tennessee Titans. The Titans had an NFL-best 13-3 record and were AFC South champions last year. The game is the first meeting between the teams since the Titans defeated the Steelers 31-14 on December 21, 2008. Tennessee was the last team to beat the Steelers before they went on to win Super Bowl XLIII. This will mark only the fifth time …read more

Nashville Police officially announced a murder-suicide today as former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was shot and killed by his 20-year-old girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, four days ago. Investigators believe Steve was sleeping on the sofa in the couple’s downtown Nashville condo when Ms. Kazemi shot him in the right temple, twice in the chest and then in the left temple from inches away. Then, Ms. Kazemi shot herself in the right temple and died.
This is just an incredibly sad and gruesome account of a situation gone terribly wrong. Interviews with friends revealed that a distraught Ms. Kazemi was making payments on …read more
