New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady acknowledged through his Web site that he had an arthroscopic procedure done to “clean and to test the wound” in his injured left knee last week. But there have been two additional procedures performed since that time, with the same goal in mind. Apparently, the patellar tendon graft used to replace Tom’s ACL is in danger of becoming compromised. Should that occur, the entire reconstruction would have to be removed and redone from scratch. Tom doesn’t want that. The Patriots don’t want that. And NFL fans don’t want that. [...]
Post from: Every Morning Quarterback

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady acknowledged through his Web site that he had an arthroscopic procedure done to “clean and to test the wound” in his injured left knee last week. But there have been two additional procedures performed since that time, with the same goal in mind. Apparently, the patellar tendon graft used to replace Tom’s ACL is in danger of becoming compromised. Should that occur, the entire reconstruction would have to be removed and redone from scratch. Tom doesn’t want that. The Patriots don’t want that. And NFL fans don’t want that. Either there are still signs of infection in Tom’s knee or Tom’s doctor is being overly cautious with this fix. But things aren’t exactly going as well as Tom wants us to believe and until they are, his true rehab can’t really even begin.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had successful surgery on his left knee earlier this week. The operation took place at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. If you were wondering why it took so long to get the operation (it’s been about a month since Tom blew out his knee in the season opener), it’s because doctors were apparently waiting for Tom’s MCL to heal before they could work on the ACL. The Patriots aren’t commenting and Tom’s doctor, Neal S. ElAttrache, can’t talk about it.
