Marvin Harrison is not considering retirement. After being released by the Indianapolis Colts — his employer of 13 years — a few months ago, Marvin has kind of disappeared. And don’t look for him to reappear until just before training camp begins. But look for him to reappear. At 37-years-old (he’ll be 38 in August), Marvin wants no part of mini camps and OTAs. But according to his agent, Tom Condon, the future Hall of Fame receiver feels his bum knee is healed and thinks he can still play. Matthew Stafford: ‘I Think I’m Prepared’

After months of speculation and ample consideration to a handful of worthy players, the Detroit Lions finally chose University of Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford as the top overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft this afternoon. But the deal was settled late last night as Matthew signed a six-year, $78 million deal. With $41.7 million being guaranteed (the richest rookie contract in NFL history), it once again brings up the sore subject of college players making obnoxious sums of money without having played a down in the National Football League. Because no rookie player is worth that kind of money.

Indianapolis Colts WR Marvin Harrison is being investigated by police for a shooting that took place outside his North Philadelphia bar, Playmakers, earlier this week. Before the media blows this all out of proportion, let’s keep in mind that Marvin has not been arrested nor charged. He was merely interviewed. Marvin’s agent Tom Condon said:
“I’ve spoken with Marvin and I’ve spoken with his attorney, and they say the reports are erroneous. Marvin was not involved in any shooting, and he is not the subject of this investigation.”

According to an NBCSports.com report, with six days to go before the NFL Draft, an unidentified league source is saying that a contract agreement between the Miami Dolphins and former Michigan OT Jake Long is nearly in place. Miami began talks with Jake’s agent, Tom Condon, about two weeks ago and Mr. Condon has been in South Florida to meet with Dolphins officials.
