Not surprisingly, the Tennessee Titans found out about Pacman Jones‘ plans to take part in professional wrestling. They responded with this brief statement today:
“In June we stated that we didn’t expect to comment on Adam Jones until his suspension was complete. Regrettably, we feel it necessary to explain our action today. Today we filed a motion in Williamson County asking for a court order preventing Jones from participating in any wrestling activity.

All NFL players have language in their contracts that prohibit them from engaging in activities ‘which may involve a significant risk of personal injury.’ We certainly believe wrestling to be hazardous and it is obvious from the player’s conduct that he is ignoring this aspect of his agreements with the club. As an organization, we feel it is our obligation to protect our rights in this instance.”

The Titans should just cut Pacman loose and forget they ever drafted him. Even when (if) he comes back from suspension, I think he’ll forever be more of a headache than he’s worth.

Blogging the National Football League, Blogging the NFL
This sounds about right. When I heard that Pacman Jones was going to fill his football-free hours participating in “professional” wrestling (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling televised by Spike TV), I thought: “Perfect! He’s finally doing something constructive with his time.” Sarcastic, I am being. In all honesty, though, Pacman seems perfectly suited for the comical hype that surrounds this sport. He ought to give up football and do this instead. But here’s one thing Pacman’s not considering (big surprise). He’s still a member of the Titans and I’ll bet there’s some wording in [...]
Post from: Every Morning Quarterback

He’s still a member of the Titans and I’ll bet there’s some wording in his contract that would legally frown on this sort of activity. NFL contracts prohibit non-football activities that could cause injury.
