Blogging the National Football League, Blogging the NFL
I just got done watching Tom Brady perform surgery on the Buffalo Bills defense tonight from the press box at Ralph Wilson Stadium. It was my first up-close and personal view of the best team in the National Football League and I’m more impressed now than I was before. That’s saying a lot because I picked the Patriots to win the Super Bowl back in April and a lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon since. Tom was 31 of 39 for 373 yards and five TDs. Four of those five TDs went to Randy Moss. But as good as Tom and these receivers are, it’s the offensive line that makes this offense work right. Tom was touched once tonight, knocked down by Bills LB Angelo Crowell and the result of the play was an incompletion. If you don’t get to Tom Brady — and I mean more than just pressure him — he will pick any team in the NFL to pieces. The Bills found that out the hard way by getting thumped 56-10.
As impressive as Tom Brady was, I have to say that this team is balanced and equally as powerful on defense and special teams. They have no weaknesses and I don’t see anyone knocking them off. The Colts know how to beat New England, but I’m not sure they have the firepower to pull it off. The Cowboys think they know how to beat New England, but they don’t have the firepower, either. Who does that leave? Well, we still have a long way to go in this 2007 season, but my money’s on New England winning every game right through the Super Bowl.
