This year, there don’t seem to be kickers in fantasy football that are heads and shoulders above the rest. That said, there are definitely a few kickers that have more value heading into the 2009 fantasy season. Here’s a look at the top of our 2009 fantasy football kicker ranking:
1. Rob Bironas, Tennessee Titans
With a powerful leg and an offense that produces a lot of field goal attempts, Rob Bironas is a good bet to be elite in 2009.
2. Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots
The Patriots could very well have the most potent offense this coming season. Add in Gostkowski’s elite ability and that’s a good pairing.
3. Ryan Longwell, Minnesota Vikings
With Brett Favre on board, Ryan Longwell’s projections are very promising. He’s coming off a strong season and should have a repeat performance.
4. Nate Kaeding, San Diego Chargers
If you want a steady producer at kicker, Nate Kaeding can get the job done. He’ll make a good percentage of his kicks and the Chargers are confident in his abilities.
5. David Akers, Philadelphia Eagles
David Akers has been a bit underrated in recent years but the addition of Michael Vick should add more scoring opportunities for Philadelphia’s kicker.
