2009 NBA Most Valuable Player – MVP Favorites

5. Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
Although he’s having a great season, it isn’t quite Dwight Howard’s turn to win the NBA Most Valuable Player Award. Before he wins it, he’ll need to make more noise in the playoffs. However, it’s a good sign for his popularity that he’s leading the entire NBA in All-Star voting.

4. Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Last year’s NBA MVP, it doesn’t appear as if Kobe Bryant has much of a chance to win the award back-to-back. Since the Lakers are so talented this season, Bryant doesn’t have to do as much — thus, his numbers are down. But don’t be mistaken, he’s still a great player.

3. Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets
Chris Paul is having a fantastic season but the Hornets haven’t quite lived up to expectations so far. Plus there are rumblings that he doesn’t have the same great relationship with head coach Byron Scott. That said, if the Hornets catch of fire, Paul still has a shot.

2. Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat
After a great showing during the Olympics, Dwyane Wade is following it up with a fantastic NBA season. He’s doing it all for the Heat and he’s single-handedly keeping his team in the playoff chase. If the Heat can move up the standings and Wade can stay healthy, he’s almost a lock to finish in the top three of the MVP voting.

1. LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
Right now, it isn’t even close. LeBron James has the Cavs playing outstanding basketball. In fact, Cleveland may currently be the best offensive and best defensive team in the league. LeBron is doing it on both ends of the court and he’s elevated his game to an amazingly high level.

It’s not that hard to know who’s the winner for the 2009 mvp. It is going to be Lebron James. simple as that. He got 22 career triple doubles and he is only 24 years old. He and his team are currently the best record team in the conference along by being the ONLY nba team to achieve 20-0 at home! No one could even stop him, He always find his way around the hoop and if he decides to pass, he is an extremely great passer with a high IQ level. No player could achieve what he did in points, rebounds and assists since Oscar Robertson. So please, Kobe has nothing compared to Lebron James. He has proven it this year that his Hard work has paid off and even makes his coach look good, his teammates look good. he got a better team this year with Ben wallace, Mr z. , boobie gibson, delonte west, and mo williams just like michael jordan had scottie pippen. even last year in the semi finals Boston struggled against them. Think about it, Lebron is the MVP. No doubt.

  2. Ben Davis says:

How about this…. The two stats that show offense is ppg and Assists…. Wade is leading in both of those categories… and the stats that show defense is Blks and Steals… Wade is leading in both of those categories….

Wade lead the Heat, (which is a terrible team by the way) to wins against both the Lakers and the Cav’s…. Which have the best supporting casts this season.

If the Heat Make the playoffs this season with a very very very young team this season, especially after going 15/67 last season, they should just give Wade MVP especially if his numbers stay the same.

Time after time after time, Wade has proven to be the best when he is healthy… Take a look at the Olympics…

We cannot argue that the League wants to just give LeBron James the MVP trophy this year… Even if time after time he proves that he is not the most clutch… He got embarrassed on his birthday after having 24 hours of himself on TV, he didn’t show up against Kobe even when Kobe played with a broken finger. And he travels like 15% of the time he is on the floor.

Not Only can he not shoot in the clutch, but he never shows up on the big stage… Meaning Championship games…. or big games when he is expected to put on a show for the fans…

James is 6′9 an inch shorter than Dwight Howard… and Wade averages more blocks….
The Cav’s theme for this season is LeBron’s MVP season… it seems that ESPN wants to replay everything he has done this season, while the obvious is that Wade is the most Exciting player… He actually dunks on big men while they are contesting….. WADE FOR MVP!!! Like he was in the Olympics this SUMMER….

  3. edrel says:

i think bosh will win the 2009 mvp

  4. juan matulin says:

I’ll go for Dwane wade for MVP

  5. Aldren says:

I think Kobe will win for the 2009 MVP. They are all nothing compared to Kobe Bryant. He’s the best player of all times because of his aggressiveness in the court. He scored 61 points against the New York this 2009. Other can’t have this top score, JORDAN got only 59 pts., Lebron only got 51 pts…
Kobe Had makes difference in this 2009 NBA League. So, don’t doubt. They are nothing compared to Kobe specially Lebron James.

    • jason says:

He also has the reputation of the most shots taken per game by a single player, that’s the only reason he scored 61 points, because he takes a shot every chance he gets.

  6. brandon says:

Aldren i dont know if your talking about there career highs cause jordan has had 69 and Lebron has had 56 so i have no idea what your talking about. Lebron should be MVP 28 ppg and passes AMAZING. He can dribble too, even when they put him on PG he gets past everyone, including kobe. Kobe has had his turn but he is 30 now and starting to slow down. Best player is Lebron. But in the end, noone compares to michael Jordan.

  7. Lisa says:

I’d have to go with LeBron. I feel he has been cheated a couple of times. What qualifies a NBA player to be the MVP? Is it because he himself is playing better ball? Is it because he’s carrying the load by himself? Is it because he’s a better all around ball player than any other playeri n the league and he makes his team better players and the team will undoubtedly make the playoffs? If it’s the latter, I vote for LeBron James. Dwayne Wade is playing awesome ball but so was LeBron last year and LeBron did not get the MVP award partly b/c the team was in fourth place.

  8. LEBRON is 2009 NBA MVP. HE IS NOW THE LEADING SCORER AGAIN!!!!

  9. Jesse says:

WTF Publisher is a Lebron fan suppressing what I had to say..forget it..

  10. Corbin says:

You can argue all you want regarding the stats of LBJ…..but at the end of the game Kobe will be named the back to back MVP, the best player on the best team in the NBA period…..that is the reason why he was robbed with an MVP title by both Nowitzki and Nash….the NBA right now is trying to find other ways to erase that rule that they have established in order to proclaim your precious LBJ the MVP this year….

  11. victor says:

i think that kobe should be the mvp of 2008 and a i’m sure the se is better then lebron yall saw when kobe kill him and his team

  16. richard says:

  18. MARCUS says:

I HAVE TO SAY LEBRON JAMES,JUSS BECUASE OF WAT HE IS DOING WITH THE CAVALIERS RIGHT NOW,HES ONLY 23 YEARS OLD AND CARRYING HIS TEAM TO THE TOP SO I SAY LEBRON MVP FOR 2009

  19. alex says:

lebron james is the man mvp for him the best player

  20. Eric says:

Kobe Bryant has a supporting Cast.
Lebron James has a supporting cast.
Dwyane Wade has a…team to play for.

Bryant and James are the top 2 active players hands down.
    BUT
MVP is most valueable player OF THE YEAR.
OF THE YEAR, not their whole career.

That proves my point to give D. Wade the honor of giving him this award. He has no one to help him on his team(they are all young). He is lifting his team by himself to the playoffs. He has the stats on both sides of the court. Without his existance, Miami wouldn’t even make the playoffs.

If Lebron and Kobe were never born (thank god they were) The Lakers would still be in the playoffs and same goes for the Cavs. BECAUSE they have other above avg. players to work with while Miami would only have J. O’neal.

    Next Time you post….
think about 2008-2009 Season, not their careers.

    PEACE

  21. hayden says:

I HAVE TO SAY KOBE BRYANT BUT YALL CAN SAY ALL THIS SHIT AND STUFF BUT IN THE END WE WILL SO WHO WINS AND JUST BECAUSE LEBRON AND DWANE ARE AVERGING THE MOST POINTS,ASSISTS,STEALS, AND ALL THAT STUFF THATS NOT ALL THAT ITS ABOUT BUT LIKE I SAID WE CAN AGREE AND DISAGREE ALL DAY AND ALL THE FUCKING NIGHT BUT OH KOBE AND LEBRON AND DWANE ARE ALL GOOD IF THEY FUCKING GOOD THEY WOULD BE ON THE MVP LIST OR EVEN BE TALKED ABOUT WE GET LEBRON IS GOOD KOBE IS GOOD DWANE IS GOOD WE HAVE HEARD IT LOTS OF TIME I DON’T CARE IF YALL DISAGREE WITH ME BUT KOBE IS THE BEST AND THAT IS FUCKING CLEAR AS I CAN MAKE THIS STUFF OK SO YAP AND WINE AND SAY HAYDEN IS WRONG BUT AT LEST THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE ON THIS WEBSITE THAT LIKE KOBE LIKE ME AND SOME PEOPLE RESPECT KOBE LIKE ME KOBE ROCKS YES ITS TRUE YALL CAN ARUGE WITH ME BUT ITS TRUE THAT KOBE ROCKS SO SUCK IT UP LEBRON AND DWANE ARE GOOD BUT I THINK THEY ARE A LEVEL BELOW KOBE ON THE CHART AND KOBE IS THE BEST OK AND AT LEAST KOBE AND THE LAKERS MADE IT TO THE FINALS LEBRON AND THE CAVS DIDNT MAKE IT THAT FAR GO LAKERS AND GO KOBE YALL ROCK SO DON’T BE HATIN ON KOBE AND MABY SOME OF US KOBE FANS WOLNT BE HATIN ON DWANE AND LEBRON OK THATS AS CLEAR AS I CAN MAKE IT OK

  22. Eric says:

oooo I forget..Who won the Championship??
ooo. thats right, it was Boston who Beat the Celtics.

Kobe brang the lakers to the championship, but they didn’t do anything. He had a supporting veteran cast too.
While Lebron’s Cavs were still young and Dwyane had no one.

In case you don’t know. In the end MVP award is based on stats and character. So Kobe won’t win it this year if lebron and Dwyane play like they are now.

  23. Eric says:

    Boston Beat The Lakers****

  24. Allen says:

Lebron James will win it he is the best he got 3 triple doubles in a row 6 this year almsot 29 points again,7 assist,7 reb, almost 2 steals a game,1.4 blocks he makes amazing ending game 3pointers,21 double doubles so far and has the best leauge record in the nba 54-13 they have won last 9 of 10 because of lebron

  25. da-boy says:

KING JAMES IS THE MVP,NO ONE CAN CAOMPARE TO HIM RIGHT NOW,KOBE AND D-WADE ARE NO MATCH FOR HIM, LBJ 23 IS NO.1 SO PLEASE SHUT UP…AND BE QUIET…

  26. kwj1031 says:

Hands down today it has to be Dwyane Wade. He is the leading scorer in the league, and with so few games it looks to remain that way. To do what the heat have done this year and clinch a playoff berth after the season of losses they had last year leaves only wade to thank. Take bryant off of the lakers, yea they arent as good but they compete. Take lebron off the cavs, not as good but yet again they compete. You take d. wade off of the heat, that team has no chance.

  27. pito says:

Does lebron james on steriod, that’s why he elevated his game??? Look how beefy he is as 24yrs old.

  28. Stephanie says:

Well as of right now…I don’t even think it is even a question. LEBRON JAMES FOR MVP. Something that he has that Kobe does not have is the mind set of “Team First” Lebron could have a triple double for every single game if he truly wanted to. When watching the Cavs play, they have that spark and chemistry that a Championship team needs.

Yes, Lebron has led the Cavs to have the best 08-09 NBA record but he is also focused on the bettering of all of his team members. That is the definition of MVP in my eyes.

    MVP= Lebron James
    Champions= Cleveland Cavaliers

  29. alex says:

guess what guys lebron james won the mvp and kobe didn’t to bad laker fans that like kobe lebron was named MVP……………………………………………………

  30. dog says:

you guys all suck balls wade is the fucking best god damn player in the world

  31. lebron mvp 09 says:
