Blake Griffin, the first overall draft pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, is already dealing with his first NBA injury. The good news is that the Los Angeles Clippers aren’t too worried about the right shoulder strain that will keep Griffin off the court for up to a month.
As of now, there’s no indication that Griffin will miss any days of training camp. In fact, he should be healthy in plenty of time.
In summer league, Griffin already began to show his fantasy basketball potential. In 34.6 minutes per game, Griffin averaged 19.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 50% from the field.
While those numbers are really good, there were a couple areas of concern for fantasy owners. Griffin hit only 45.9% of his free throws, connected on 1-of-7 three-pointers and turned the ball over 4.2 times per game.
All in all, Griffin’s stock was on the rise following his summer league performance. This seemingly minor shoulder injury shouldn’t affect him fantasy basketball stock.
