Brady Quinn 2009 Fantasy Projections

If you believe Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini, Brady Quinn currently has a slight edge over Derek Anderson to become the starting quarterback for the 2009 fantasy football season. Obviously, whoever wins this competition will hold much more fantasy value, however both quarterbacks are arguably worthy of being drafted.

What are Brady Quinn’s 2009 fantasy football projections? Compared to Anderson, he has to have the lower ceiling. The 24-year-old only has four games and 97 passing attempts to his credit in his NFL career. It’s rare for such an unpolished quarterback to have fantasy success without a few rocky starts along the way.

Anderson has the higher ceiling largely due to what he did in 2007. At times that year, he was a top five fantasy football quarterback. He finished the campaign with 3,787 passing yards and 29 passing touchdowns. Although he struggled last year, history tells us Anderson is definitely capable.

Both quarterbacks are hurt by the Browns weak receiving corps. Braylon Edwards is coming off of a very disappointing season, while Donte Stallworth is unlikely to be much of a help this season due to legal troubles. Consider that running back Jamal Lewis will be a year older, and the Browns starting quarterback gig doesn’t look too bright in the fantasy football world — not matter if Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson is named the starter.
