According to at least one report, Brett Favre is about to be traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The report indicates that the trade could be done as early as Wednesday.
Tampa Bay would be a decent enough fit for Favre. Coach Jon Gruden likes veteran players and Brett Favre would definitely step in and get the starting gig. While the Buccaneers aren’t overly talented on offense, they do have a few good offensive weapons that will ease the pressure on Favre.
However, in terms of fantasy football production, don’t expect Favre to match his numbers from last season if he is indeed traded to the Buccaneers. His learning curve will take a while and he doesn’t have a star wide receiver. For fantasy football 2008, consider Favre a good backup option at quarterback who might surprise.
