Today was the day that a lot of Dwyane Wade owners were hoping didn’t come. The Miami Heat announced that Wade will miss the rest of the season due to injury. More Wade fantasy owners, this is obviously horrible news.
Wade wasn’t having a great season but he was still a solid fantasy player. Truthfully, fantasy owners who owned Wade shouldn’t have been shocked by this move. Even drafting Wade this season was a risk and now it appears that the risky part as come to fruition.
In Miami, they are in total rebuild mode. They will be happy to lose as many games as possible now. The biggest day for Heat fans coming up will be the day the NBA determines the draft order.
For now, the Heat will obviously struggle to deal with the loss of Wade. Shawn Marion will likely have to pick up some of the scoring slack. At shooting guard, expect Ricky Davis and Daequan Cook to get a lot more shots. Both Davis and Cook are now suddenly decent fantasy players right now.
