Heading into Week 8 of the 2009 fantasy football season, it’s time to swing for the fences on your waiver wire claims. You don’t want a run of the mill player — you want to catch lightning in a bottle. Here are some fantasy football super sleepers who fit the bill:
QB Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers
The Alex Smith Era is back on in San Francisco. The Niners are giving the reins to their team once again to the former number one overall pick. Last week, Smith looked impressive. Perhaps he can actually keep it up and live up to his potential.
RB Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Larry Johnson is doing everything in his power to lose his starting gig in Kansas City. If he succeeds, Jamaal Charles is likely next in line. His breakaway speed would make him an interesting player in fantasy football.
WR Kenny Britt, Tennessee Titans
It looks more and more like Kerry Collins will be out as the Titans starter. If that’s the case, Vince Young may help revive the passing game. As a result, Kenny Britt would then become a lot more valuable.
TE Fred Davis, Washington Redskins
With Chris Cooley an injury question mark, Fred Davis sees his value skyrocket. The Redskins love passing to the tight end and Davis is an adequate receiving threat.
