Recently, the Cleveland Indians put Grady Sizemore on the disabled list due to an inflamed elbow. Now Indians doctors are saying that Sizemore could need elbow surgery if rest doesn’t help.
For fantasy baseball owners, this news is obviously not the news you wanted to read. Sizemore was a very highly touted player coming into the season, with many experts picking him to win the American League MVP award. However, this elbow injury has slowed him down for almost the entire season.
On the year, the outfielder is hitting .223 with nine homers and 31 RBI. His on-base percentage of .309 might be his most disappointing stat. Over the last three years, he never had an OBP mark less than .374.
If rest helps, expect Sizemore to be out for about two more weeks. If the rest doesn’t help and he needs surgery on his elbow, he’ll probably be able to return in about two months.
