Hamed Haddadi has been one of the biggest surprises of Olympic basketball thus far. This Iranian center has surprised many and has become a legitimate NBA prospect. At 7-foot-2 and over 250 pounds, Haddadi has good size and his skill level is surprisingly high.
Iran’s basketball team isn’t highly regarded but Haddadi has almost single-handedly kept all their games respectable. So far in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Haddadi is averaging 16.5 points, ten rebounds, and two and a half blocks per game.
Due to current US restriction, NBA teams aren’t allowed to sign Haddadi to a contract due to being an Iranian national. However, due to how well he’s played in the Olympics, chances are he’ll find his way to the NBA for the 2008-09 season.
