Kwame Brown has signed a two-year contract to join the Detroit Pistons. While Brown has been a total bust as a number one overall draft pick, his prospects for future fantasy basketball seasons actually look brighter now.
The Pistons are the perfect team for Brown. He can learn slowly and can play as a role player for the first time in his career. He will no longer have the pressure of his draft status or a big contract hanging over his head. He’s now just a player who has a shot to start at center in the future.
Brown still has a lot of negatives, including but not limited to his poor hands and his low basketball IQ. But he’s a decent enough defender, can usually finish around the basket and he’s still young enough to improve.
For the 2008-09 fantasy basketball season, don’t draft Kwame Brown … however, keep an eye on him if he carves out a 25 to 28 minute role with the Pistons.
