NFL Lockout Upcoming? Fantasy Football Impact

May 20, 2008 by admin

NFL owners are displeased with the current collective bargaining agreement with its players and recently voted to opt out of the agreement. The impact of opting out is a 2010 season which could have no salary cap and then a lockout in 2011.

In terms of fantasy football, there really isn’t much of an impact in the short-term. Teams may now have more room to sign players due to the cap-free year in 2010 but that shouldn’t really alter your fantasy football preparations.

If 2010 does indeed gone down without a cap, there could be a lot of players changing teams, so you’d have to keep an even closer eye on what happens than usual. But everything, including the much discussed 2011 lockout, is so far away that you might as well forget about it for the 2008 fantasy football season.
