While it doesn’t matter much who wins the actual NBA games in fantasy basketball, you shouldn’t forget about the results completely. Players on teams that are playing well tend to fight through injuries more often and their production tends to be more consistent.
Here is a look at the top ten NBA teams at the moment:
1) Boston Celtics
The Celtics are looking very good. They are off to a perfect 5-0 start and seem to be hitting on all cylinders. With an average margin of victory of 16.6 points, the Celtics are a team to be reckoned with.
2) San Antonio Spurs
The defending NBA champions are 6-1, with their lone loss coming against the Rockets on the road. The Spurs, typically a slow starting team, looks surprisingly sharp early in the season.
3) Houston Rockets
The Rockets (6-1) are off to a very good start. With new coach Rick Adelman on the sidelines, Houston’s offense looks much improved and the overall chemistry of the team looks to be great.
4) Detroit Pistons
The Pistons are at 5-1 and seem to clearly be the second best team in the Eastern Conference. The team’s lone loss came against the Chicago Bulls and that was a very winnable game for the Pistons, as well.
5) Utah Jazz
The Jazz are 6-2 and seem to be picking up right where they left off last season. After a trip to the Western Conference Finals, the Jazz look even better. Deron Williams is cementing himself as one of the better players in the league.
6) Phoenix Suns
The Suns are at 5-2 but they aren’t playing as well as expected. Amare Stoudemire has been banged up, so there’s a good chance this team can get a lot better when he gets back healthy.
7) Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs are 4-2 this season. Dallas has looked sluggish at times and Dirk Nowitzki isn’t playing as well as possible. The Mavs should improve but so far, they haven’t shown the play that led them to 67 wins last year.
8) New Orleans Hornets
With the team healthy, the Hornets are showing their potential. Chris Paul is developing into a superstar, with talented players around him such as David West, Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler.
9) Orlando Magic
The new acquisition of Rashard Lewis seems to be paying off. The Magic are 5-2 and have been playing better than they have in years. With Dwight Howard even more dominant, players like Lewis and Jameer Nelson are excelling around him.
10) Los Angeles Clippers
Elton who? The Clippers have started off the season as if they don’t miss their All-Star power forward. Chris Kaman has done a great job picking up the slack and Sam Cassell has turned back the clock a few times to have huge games.
