In the Phoenix Suns’ win on Wednesday night against the Seattle Supersonics, Raja Bell suffered a sprained ankle. He had six three-pointers and 20 points before injury his ankle. He got hurt when he landed on Kevin Durant’s foot after attempting a shot.
While there is not a set timetable for Bell as of yet, expect the injury to sideline him for one or two weeks. Since this timetable will likely interfere with your fantasy basketball playoffs, you should be extra careful if you are going to start Bell. It’d be best to go in another direction if you aren’t 100% sure he’s going to play.
On the Suns, there are a number of players who might step up and fill Bell’s role while he’s gone. Leandro Barbosa is the player most likely to go into the starting lineup and start at shooting guard. However, Gordon Giricek has shown some promise and could play extra minutes with Bell gone. If you are looking for a short-term fantasy fix, Giricek could be a nice option.
The latest word from the Suns’ doctors is that the sprain is considered mild to moderate. The good news is Bell isn’t going to miss the rest of the season. The bad news is this is the type of injury that could linger for a while.

hope he doesn’t miss too many games
