Shaquille O’Neal Injury Update

The Diesel is going to have to put it in park for at least the next two weeks. O’Neal is suffering from lingering pain in his hip and leg and the Heat made the decision that O’Neal has to sit after viewing an MRI.

This has been a disastrous season for everyone associated with the Miami Heat. The Heat are losing and everyone on the team is either banged up or frustrated with their role.

O’Neal is averaging 14.2 points and 7.8 rebounds this season but his free throw percentage and turnovers have made him a below average fantasy player. If you have him on your team, now is a good time to try to trade him off. As the Heat sink further in the standings, the more likely it is that O’Neal and the Heat will decide that the Big Aristotle will sit for the remainder of the season.

In O’Neal’s place, expect Mark Blount and Earl Barron to get most of the minutes at center. Blount could possibly put up decent stats but neither is a great fantasy prospect at this point. Other than Dwyane Wade, it’s best to avoid the Heat if at all possible.
