Darius Miles to Celtics - Fantasy Impact

Darius Miles has signed a contract with the Boston Celtics, which is somewhat of a surprise since the Portland Trail Blazers have all but declared Miles’ career over. In fact, the Blazers got salary cap relief due to the fact they successfully argued that Miles suffered a career-ending injury.

The most interesting aspect of this signing is that the Blazers would lose a whole lot of salary cap space if Miles plays at least ten games with the Celtics. For that reason, you can expect Miles to be extra motivated.

Miles used to be a very good basketball player who was useful in fantasy basketball, however that was a few years ago. He has bad knees now and it is unlikely he can even become 80% of what he used to be. However, if he does, the Celtics will become even stronger.

Don’t consider drafting Miles in the 2008-09 fantasy basketball season until you actually see that he makes the Celtics. This contract is only partly guaranteed and there’s still a decent to good shot he can’t complete the comeback. Even if Miles makes the Celtics opening day roster, he probably still isn’t worthy of a draft pick.
