Congrats to the Boston Celtics for becoming the 2008 NBA champions. The Celtics were the best team in basketball from the first game of preseason all the way to the final game of the year. By destroying the Los Angeles Lakers 131-92 on Wednesday night, the Celtics won the championship in front of their home fans. Paul Pierce was named the MVP of the 2008 Finals.
Since I predicted the Lakers to win the championship, I’ll gladly eat crow. The Celtics were the best team all season and went out and handled their business in the Finals.

Kobe Bryant had a huge steal and a dunk to seal the win for the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5. The Boston Celtics, who remain one win away from winning the 2008 NBA championship, lost the game 103-98. The Celtics will go home and play two games in front of their home fans. One win and they are champions.
However, take a second to watch this Kobe Bryant video. It looks like he may have fouled Paul Pierce when he reached in for the steal. And guess who was on the floor? Dick Bavetta, …read more

While the 2008 NBA Finals is still underway, it’s not too early to look at who will be named the 2008 Finals MVP. If the Los Angeles Lakers comeback from the 3-1 deficit to beat the Boston Celtics, Kobe Bryant will undoubtedly win the MVP. If the Celtics win, the race isn’t nearly as clear cut.
Boston’s Big Three — Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen — can each make a case for why they should win the 2008 Finals MVP. Here is a look at the stats so far in the Finals through four …read more

Three of their main players — Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce — are dealing with injuries. Perkins and Rondo weren’t able to finish Game 4 in which the Celtics had the great comeback in the history of the NBA Finals.
Kendrick Perkins
Kendrick Perkins hurt his shoulder in Game 4 and his status for Game 5 is in doubt. The Celtics are saying that he has less than a 50/50 chance of playing. Perkins, …read more

Rajon Rondo, the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics, suffered an ankle injury during Game 3. He was able to return to the game but afterwards his ankle swelled up. He has reportedly been diagnosed with a bone bruise.
The good news for Boston is that Rondo sounds like he’s going to play in Game 4. Rondo is a defensive minded point guard who can also rack up assists in a hurry. Without Rondo, the Celtics would really be hurting at the point guard position. The only other options are Sam Cassell and Eddie House. …read more

Leon Powe of the Boston Celtics had a night to remember in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The second year forward not only had this vicious dunk over Pau Gasol, he played extremely well overall.
In 15 minutes, Powe had 21 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field. The Celtics, led in part by Powe’s dominance of the bench, beat the Lakers 108-102 to go up 2-0 in the 2008 NBA Finals.

Tony Allen Injury Update – 2008 NBA Finals

Tony Allen of the Boston Celtics is questionable to be able to play during the 2008 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. This isn’t good news for the Celtics because Tony Allen is one of the team’s best perimeter defenders. In fact, he has done a good job against Kobe Bryant in the past.
Without Allen, the job of chasing the 2008 NBA MVP will mostly belong to Paul Pierce. Pierce, who did a good job against LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round, will start the game off against Bryant. Other players …read more
