Jeremy Shockey Traded to the Saints

The New Orleans Saints got another weapon for their offense. On Monday, the Saints acquired Shockey from the New York Giants for draft picks. Shockey will step in and become the Saints’ new starting tight end.
For the Giants, they had to make this trade because the team’s relationship with Shockey appeared to be broken. After the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl last season without Shockey, rumors spread that Shockey was unhappy and that New York would look to trade him. In return for Shockey, the Giants are getting a second rounder and a …read more

Jeremy Shockey Injury Update – Fantasy Football Impact

Jeremy Shockey broke his left leg last year during the regular season. As you might have heard, the New York Giants wound up winning the Super Bowl without Shockey’s services.
At first, many expected Shockey to be traded. The Giants showed they could win without him and Shockey’s outlandish personality seemed like a bad fit. However, in recent weeks, it appears more and more likely that Shockey will remain with the Giants.
According to reports, Shockey’s rehab is going well. He’s working out in Florida and chances are that he’ll be ready to go by the …read more

Kellen Winslow Contract Holdout 2008 – Fantasy Impact

There are some rumblings in Cleveland that Kellen Winslow, the Browns’ star tight end, might be unhappy with his contract. Winslow didn’t show up for a few organized team activities recently. Although the activities aren’t mandatory, there is speculation that Winslow’s absence is contract related.
Last season, Winslow had a very good fantasy football campaign. He had 82 catches, 1106 yards and five touchdowns. The 24-year-old tight end out of Miami became one of the best fantasy tight ends in the NFL.
Early in Winslow’s career, he suffered from a number of serious injuries. During that time, …read more

Brian Urlacher Contract Holdout 2008 – Fantasy Impact

Brian Urlacher Contract Holdout 2008 – Fantasy Impact

Brian Urlacher is missing voluntary workouts with the Chicago Bears due to being unhappy with his current contract. He’s recently stated that he’d be willing to miss involuntary workouts if a new contract isn’t agreed upon. There has also been talk about him not showing up at training camp without a new contract.
For fantasy football purposes, Urlacher is definitely a difference maker for the Chicago Bears defense. He’s one of the best linebackers in the league and if a contract holdout lasted into the season, the Bears defense would be less valuable in the fantasy football world.

Deuce McAllister 2008 Fantasy Projections

According to a recent report, Deuce McAllister has worked out a deal to return to the New Orleans Saints. By reworking his contract, he is now at an affordable price for the Saints.
McAllister is coming off of his second surgery for a torn ACL. The last time he had the surgery, he came back and had a great season. However, this time at the age of 29, the prognosis isn’t that great for McAllister. In fact, some skeptics believe McAllister may still end up being waived before the beginning of the 2008 NFL season.

Javon Walker 2008 Fantasy Projections

The Oakland Raiders made their big splash in the free agent frenzy by signing Javon Walker to a contract. Walker, a wide receiver who most recently played with the Denver Broncos, was brought in to likely be the team’s main wide receiving threat.
Walker was riddled with injuries in 2007 and basically disappeared from the fantasy football map. In 2008, expect him to be a hot name on draft day. In three of Walker’s six pro seasons, he has had at least eight touchdowns. His career-high in touchdowns is 12, set in 2004 as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
However, …read more

Aaron Rodgers 2008 Fantasy Projections

With the news that Brett Favre is retiring, fantasy football owners across the world are scrambling to try to figure out what can be expected of Aaron Rogers, Favre’s backup at quarterback. Playing behind the most durable quarterback of all-time, Rogers hasn’t seen much time in his three seasons in the NFL.

Rodgers was picked in the first round of the 2005 draft out of Cal. He has a decently strong arm but at 6-foot-2, he’s a tad short for the quarterback position. He’s probably a better athlete than Favre is …read more

TJ Duckett 2008 Fantasy Projections

TJ Duckett recently signed with the Seattle Seahawks and will add depth to the team at running back. Duckett, who some say weighs about 260 pounds at the moment, is a large man who could make a difference for the Seahawks in 2008.
While Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris remain in place, there is little doubt that the Seahawks need help at the running back position. Alexander had a poor season last year and it seems like the end of his career is near. Morris gives good effort but he’s just not strong enough to be an every down back. Enter …read more

Adrian Peterson to rush for 2000 Yards in 2008?

During a pro bowl interview, Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings indicated that in 2008 his goal is to rush for 2000 yards.
Said Peterson: “Oh, yeah, I set my bar high. That’s definitely where I’d like to start.”
While that’s crazy talk for almost anyone in the NFL, it’s not crazy talk for Adrian Peterson. In his rookie season, he was at one point on pace to rush for over 2000 yards. In 2008 with a year under his belt and a likely improved Vikings squad, 2000 yards perhaps isn’t likely but it wouldn’t shock anyone.
In 14 games as a rookie, …read more
