Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles
After being benched for the first time in his NFL career, Donovan McNabb has responded by playing his best football of the season. Over the last three weeks, he’s been a very serviceable fantasy football quarterback. Over that time period, he has seven touchdowns and only one interception.

Donovan McNabb

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
While he may be no Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers is on fire. In his last five games, he has ten touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown. He also has at least 227 passing yards in each of those games. He’s definitely a fantasy football quarterback you can trust on a weekly basis.

Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Now that he’s getting healthier and healthier after he suffered a broken pinkie, Tony Romo is re-emerging as a fantasy football stud. In his last four games, Romo has nine touchdown passes. In two of those games, he surpassed 330 yards passing. Going forward, Romo remains a top five fantasy quarterback.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Although he’s had a bit of trouble with interceptions, Drew Brees remains a very good fantasy football start each and every week. In his last four weeks, Brees has ten touchdowns. He had a touchdown in every week this season outside of one week. On the season, he already has 4332 passing yards and 28 touchdowns.

Most Surprising Fantasy Football Players 2008

QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
The Packers knew Aaron Rodgers was talented, however fantasy football owners wouldn’t have guessed that Rodgers would have such an impressive first year at quarterback. He’s been a top three performer as a fantasy quarterback and considering his relatively late average draft position, he has to be making his owners very happy.

Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers

RB DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
Coming into the 2008 fantasy football season, DeAngelo Williams wasn’t a wanted man in the fantasy world. He was a part of a dreaded running back by committee situation in Carolina. However, now he’s emerged as the hottest back in fantasy football and is suddenly a must start each and every week.

WR Kevin Walter, Houston Texans
Kevin Walter showed some promise in 2007 but nobody could have imagined him becoming a top ten wide receiver in 2008. While he’s still not quite as valuable as teammate Andre Johnson, Walter has had a huge year and seems to be playing better and better as the season has progressed. Going into 2009, Walter will be a household name in the fantasy football world.

TE Visanthe Shiancoe, Minnesota Vikings
Prior to 2008, Visanthe Shiancoe was known as a player who didn’t always give great effort. He was also known for his bad hands. In 2008, Shiancoe has become a very productive tight end who is currently ranked in the top five. While he’s not overly consistent, he’s capable of scoring a touchdown in any given week.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Sleepers

QB Dan Orlovsky, Detroit Lions
So far this season, Dan Orlovsky hasn’t looked much like a capable fantasy football quarterback. But if you are really desperate for a QB in Week 7, consider Orlovsky a fantasy football sleeper for the week. He’s facing a bendable Houston Texans defense and with Jon Kitna out of the year, he no longer has to look over his shoulder. Expect him to have at least one touchdown pass.

RB Michael Pittman, Denver Broncos
While it’s never a happy feeling starting a running back against the New England Patriots, Pittman should have some success. He’s coming off of a very good week in Week 6 and the Patriots have shown some holes so far in 2008. Pittman is a sleeper to have a huge week this weekend.

WR Isaac Bruce, San Francisco 49ers
The matchup against the New York Giants looks daunting but the Cleveland Browns had success last week through the air against NY. If the 49ers can have similar success, Bruce will be in for a big game. He has emerged as the team’s go-to receiver and he looks to be in very good shape.

TE Donald Lee, Green Bay Packers
It appears as if Aaron Rodgers is slowly but surely adding tight end Donald Lee into the team’s passing attack. Lee, who thrived last season when Brett Favre was quarterback, has a better than average matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Consider Lee a fantasy football sleeper in Week 7.

Best Fantasy Football Players in Week 5

QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Despite an injury that almost forced him to miss the game, Aaron Rodgers produced a very good fantasy week in Week 5. He finished with three touchdowns and 313 yards. All wasn’t good for the Packers however as they lost the game against the Atlanta Falcons.

RB Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
Brandon Jacobs exploded in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks. He finished the game with 15 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Although some fantasy football owners were down on him entering the season, he has played very well thus far.

WR Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons
Big things were expected out of Roddy White this season but he has struggled at times with rookie quarterback Matt Ryan at the helm. But in Week 5, White still proved he’s a dangerous fantasy weapon as he had eight catches for 132 yards and a touchdown.

TE Chris Cooley, Washington Redskins
Chris Cooley can sometimes get lost in the Redskins’ offense but he was very visible in the Week 5 game. He was dominant on his way to eight catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Week 5 Injury Report - NFL Injuries

QB Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals
After sitting out last week, Carson Palmer is listed as questionable for Week 5. However, the good news for fantasy football owners is that Palmer is expected to play in Week 5 despite his elbow injury.

QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers is listed officially as questionable and is being called a game-time decision. That said, it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll play.

RB Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
Westbrook was unable to play last week due to an ankle injury. This week he has practiced and very well could play.

RB Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens
McGahee is questionable and will be a gametime decision. Look elsewhere for a safe start.

WR Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals
Boldin is out for Week 5 after undergoing face surgery.

WR Brandon Lloyd, Chicago Bears
Due to a hip injury, Brandon Lloyd will be out in Week 5.

WR David Patten, New Orleans Saints
Patten has been ruled out for Week 5.

WR Deion Branch and Bobby Engram, Seattle Seahawks
Although neither wide receiver has played this season, both are expected to play in Week 5.

WR Justin Gage, Tennessee Titans
Gage is listed as doubtful and is expected to miss Week 5 of the fantasy football season.

WR Plaxico Burress, New York Giants
Burress will not play in Week 5 due to suspension.

TE LJ Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
Although listed as questionable, the latest indications are that Smith should be able to play.

Sell High Week 5 - Fantasy Football 2008

Filed under Fantasy Football Advice, Sell High

QB Brett Favre, New York Jets
In Week 4, Brett Favre was amazing. His six touchdown passes reminded the world what he is capable of doing. However, don’t hesitate to sell him high if another fantasy owner comes calling.

RB Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
The last time the 2008 fantasy football world saw Ronnie Brown, he was scoring five touchdowns against the New England Patriots defense. With his value likely never to be higher, now is a good time to try to trade him.

ronnie brown miami dolphins
Can Ronnie Brown keep it up or was Week 3 a flash in the pan.

WR Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers is banged up and Greg Jennings is coming off of a great game. If Rodgers goes down, Jennings’ stock will plummet. A sell high might very well be in order.

TE Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City Chiefs
As long as Damon Huard is the quarterback for the Chiefs, Tony Gonzalez will have value. But that quarterback job in Kansas City is so tumultuous that it could change at any given moment.

D Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have been very good so far in this fantasy football season. However, their schedule has been friendly and it is about to get a lot harder. Sell high if you have a buyer in your fantasy league.

Overrated Fantasy Football Quarterbacks 2008

With fantasy football 2008 right around the corner, let’s take a look at the most overrated fantasy football quarterbacks for the upcoming fantasy football season. These are fantasy quarterbacks who are being picked higher than their current values should merit.

Derek Anderson - While he did very well last season, Derek Anderson has an relatively inexperience receiving corps and a high profile backup.

Carson Palmer - Even though he is very talented, Carson Palmer is on a team that is heading downward and has a sometimes loony lead WR.

Marc Bulger - With Issac Bruce gone and Torry Holt aging, Marc Bulger is no longer the fantasy stud he used to be a few years ago.

Eli Manning - Don’t let a Super Bowl victory blind you to the fact that Eli Manning has been a very average fantasy quarterback.

Quarterback Fantasy Sleepers in 2008

David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars - Garrard is getting overlooked as a quarterback who could possibly have a dominant 2008 fantasy football season. He’s a very smart quarterback who takes care of the ball. His wide receivers are better this season and he can also get you fantasy points on the ground. If he ends 2008 as a top five quarterback, don’t be surprised.

Troy Smith, Baltimore Ravens - While Joe Flacco is the long-term answer at quarterback for the Ravens, he won’t be ready right away. That is where Smith comes into play. The former Heisman winner has a chance to surprise those who overlook the Ravens. He’s a natural playmaker who isn’t afraid to take risks.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers - If Brett Favre unretires, obviously Rodgers becomes all but worthless. However, if Favre stays retired, Rodgers should have a solid season. At worst, he’ll be a decent backup on a fantasy team. At best, he’s a fantasy starter who can take advantage of the numerous talented receivers at his disposal.

Speaking of Favre, here’s the latest in the Favre drama:

Tight End Fantasy Sleepers in 2008

Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City Chiefs - Not only can Gonzalez save lives, he can save your fantasy football team. Gonzalez has been a very consistent player for a long time and he’ll likely be a sleeper this upcoming season because of his advanced age. However, don’t be confused — Gonzalez is still an elite tight end.

Donald Lee, Green Bay Packers - Lee became a Brett Favre favorite last year. If Favre decides to unretire, expect Lee to have an even better year in 2008. If Aaron Rodgers is quarterback, Lee would be a riskier pick. Either way, he’s definitely a sleeper right now.

Greg Olson, Chicago Bears - Although Olson won’t get all the touches at the tight end position for the Bears, Olson showed very good potential as a rookie last year for the Bears. He’s big, he’s strong and he has good hands.

Check out this Greg Olson video where he talks about himself and other fantasy football tight ends:

Brett Favre seen at Vikings Camp?

A report has surfaced that has placed Brett Favre in Vikings minicamp. No, not as a player. Instead Favre was fielding questions.

Although he denied any comeback attempt is imminent, it is interesting to hear him back around the game. Earlier reports indicate that Favre may unretire, however that is looking more and more like a longshot.

If Favre is going to come back to the game, we should start hearing rumblings in the next few months. For now at least, Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.

Here is an video of Rodgers when he sat down with Jim Rome for an interview:
