Amare Stoudemire Officially Out for the Season

According to the surgeon who operated on Amare Stoudemire’s eye to fix a detached retina, there is no way that Stoudemire will be able to return this season. In fact, his recovery could take months and there’s no guarantee that his eye will ever be 100% again.
Obviously, this is horrible news for Stoudemire, the Phoenix Suns and Stoudemire fantasy owners. Owners who had him in a redraft league can safely drop him. His dynasty value also takes a big hit.

Amare Stoudemire Injury Update – Fantasy Impact

Amare Stoudemire, the star forward for the Phoenix Suns, will miss up to eight weeks following surgery on his eye. Stoudemire suffered a detached retina and could very well miss the rest of the regular season.
If Stoudemire is out for the season, the Phoenix Suns will have a hard time making the playoffs. As it is, the Suns have looked good some games and other games have looked lottery bound. That said, they seem to have turned it around after replacing Terry Porter with Alvin Gentry.

Amare Stoudemire Video – Dunk of Jeff Foster

The knee problems that have seemingly haunted Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns the last few seasons seem to be a distant memory. Evidence of that can be seen in this video of Stoudemire where he can be seen dunking the ball viciously on Jeff Foster of the Indiana Pacers.
Fantasy basketball owners were high on Stoudemire entering the season and he has done nothing to change that perception. His stats right now are fantastic. Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns has talked often about how good of shape he is in. According to Stoudemire, he’s near 2% body fat and his knees are feeling perfectly healthy. Terry Porter to Coach Suns – Fantasy Impact

Terry Porter will be named the new head coach of the Phoenix Suns. Porter will replace Mike D’Antoni who left to become the head coach of the New York Knicks. This will be Porter’s second head coaching job. He coached he previously coached the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons.
Porter has long be a favorite of Suns general manager Steve Kerr. The two became close when they played for the San Antonio Spurs. The two have remained friend throughout the years.

Mike D’Antoni Fired – Fantasy Perspective

Mike D’Antoni of the Phoenix Suns has reportedly coached his final game for the Suns. On Tuesday night, D’Antoni and the Suns were eliminated from the 2008 NBA playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs after losing Game 5 92-87.
If the reports are true and D’Antoni is let go, there could be major changes in store for the Suns. With fantasy basketball in mind, this could be devastating news for players on the Suns.
