QB Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers
Alex Smith struggled last week but he’s at least putting touchdowns on the board. Playing on Thursday this week, he’s a decent start versus the Bears. His long-term ceiling remains relatively high.

RB Ladell Betts, Washington Redskins
With Clinton Portis likely to miss Week 10, Ladell Betts is a quality start against the Broncos. He should get plenty of touches and he looks like he’s running well.

WR Chris Chambers, Kansas City Chiefs
After getting released from the Chargers, Chris Chambers got picked up by the Chiefs and scored two touchdowns just a few days later. Chambers has always been explosive — so there’s a chance he can really help your fantasy team down the stretch.

TE Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins
Following a very difficult start to the season, Anthony Fasano is starting to come around. In Week 10 of the 2009 fantasy football season, Fasano faces the Buccaneers at home — a very good start.

RB LaMont Jordan, New England Patriots
After missing most of the season with a calf injury, LaMont Jordan is back and producing for the Patriots. Although he’s not starting, he’s been getting goal line carries and the bulk of the carries when the game is out of reach. In the last two weeks, he has three touchdowns.

WR Jerheme Urban, Arizona Cardinals
Since Anquan Boldin is going to likely miss another week and most fantasy football leagues already have Steve Breaston on a roster, Jerheme Urban is the player to target on most waiver wires. He’s getting a few passes his way and with the Cardinals going against the Seahawks, he could be productive in Week 17.

TE Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins
In the first couple weeks of the season, Anthony Fasano looked like the real deal in terms of fantasy football production. He then went on a long dry spell but now he’s back in the fantasy equation after posting three touchdowns in the last three weeks.

Here are a list of waiver wire targets to go after. If any of these players are available, pick them up ASAP.

QB Kyle Orton, Chicago Bears
In Week 5, Kyle Orton had his fifth consecutive very good fantasy game. It’s a bit early to call him a good fantasy football starter on a weekly basis but he’s looking like he can be a quality backup.

RB Justin Fargas, Oakland Raiders
After missing a couple weeks due to injury, Justin Fargas is expected back soon. Once he gets back in the lineup, Fargas will carry a big load for the Raiders. He should be on a roster in all fantasy leagues.

WR Bobby Engram, Seattle Seahawks
Returning from injury in Week 5, Bobby Engram wasted little time proving his worth. He had eight catches and was the obvious go-to guy for the Seahawks’ air assault. Engram should be a top 25 wide receiver from this point forward.

TE Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins
Anthony Fasano continues to look like the real deal in Miami. The Dolphins’ passing game isn’t as anemic as many thought it would be and Fasano is a big reason for that. He has a chance to finish the year as a top ten tight end.

Ronnie Brown had a memorable game in Week 3.

QB Brian Griese, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jon Gruden put Brian Griese in the lineup ahead of Jeff Garcia and that move looks brilliant now. In Week 3, Griese had 407 yards and two touchdowns. While he also had three interceptions, he showed enough promise to put him on the fantasy football radar.

RB Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
Where did this come from? Ronnie Brown proved he’s healthy once again with a five touchdown performance. He also had 122 yards to go along with those five TDs. Brown was the main reason why the underdog Dolphins were able to run over the heavily favored New England Patriots.

WR Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos
Brandon Marshall is quickly becoming the best wide receiver in fantasy football. With Randy Moss struggling without Tom Brady, Marshall and Terrell Owens appear to be the top two receivers in the land of fantasy.

TE Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins
In Week 1, Anthony Fasano had a huge game. In Week 2, he was invisible and finished with no catches. He bounced back with a strong Week 3 that saw him total 66 yards and a touchdown. It’ll be interesting to see if Fasano keeps it up or if this was another fluke game.

K John Carney, New York Giants
Filling in for the injured Lawrence Tynes, John Carney is proving that he’s still good enough to kick in the NFL. Carney was 4-for-4 on field goals and hit both of his PATs. Carney’s biggest field goal was the one he hit to win the game in overtime.

Matt Cassel, Quarterback – New England Patriots
With Brady out for the season, Matt Cassel is now the quarterback for the Patriots. While you can’t expect Brady-like numbers from him, he could develop into an above average fantasy QB.

Kerry Collins, Quarterback – Tennessee Titans
Vince Young will be out for around a month and Kerry Collins will fill in. Collins still has a big arm and can put up stats for the Titans while Young is sidelined.

Steve Slaton, Running Back – Houston Texans
In Week 1, Steve Slaton was a surprising starter. Neither he nor the Texans looked good against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he’s worth having on your roster.

Shaun Alexander, Running Back
Although he’s not currently with a team, there are strong whispers that he can be signed soon. If you have a deep roster and can take a gamble, consider Alexander.

Courtney Taylor, Wide Receiver – Seattle Seahawks
With Nate Burleson out for the season and Deion Branch, Bobby Engram and Ben Obomanu already injured, someone will have to step up for Seattle. It might be Courtney Taylor.

Hank Baskett, Wide Receiver – Philadelphia Eagles
Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis are injured, which means that Hank Baskett currently has a starting gig. In the Eagles’ pass happy offense, that makes him a threat.

Anthony Fasano, Tight End – Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins traded for Anthony Fasano and he immediately paid dividends. Chad Pennington likes throwing to tight ends and Fasano looks like his top choice.

Dante Rosario, Tight End – Carolina Panthers
While things may change when Steve Smith returns to the lineup, Dante Rosario appeared to be a big part of the offense in Week 1.
