Overrated Running Backs – 2008 Fantasy Football

Every fantasy football team is only as good as its running backs. While there are a lot of quality fantasy football running backs in 2008 fantasy football, there are also a number of overrated RBs. Here is a look at our list of overrated running backs:

Frank Gore – With Mike Martz at the helm, Frank Gore’s numbers will likely take another hit in 2008. His numbers in 2006 may end up being an anomaly.

Larry Johnson – The Kansas City Chiefs are just a bad team and Larry Johnson won’t have much running room to do anything.

Ryan Grant – Inspiring breakout performance last season but expecting lightning to strike twice is wishful thinking.

Jamal Lewis – Last season, Jamal Lewis wanted revenge. This season Lewis’ age will likely catch up to him.

Ronnie Brown – Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins don’t have any reason to be indebted to Ronnie Brown. Tread carefully.

Willie Parker – Willie Parker didn’t get many touchdowns last season and this season the Steelers used a first rounder on a running back.

Selvin Young – The Broncos should gain a lot of yards on the ground this season. The problem is guessing which of their dozen running backs to pick.

Jason Taylor Traded – Washington Redskins

Jason Taylor and the Miami Dolphins finally split. The Dolphins on Sunday traded Taylor to the Washington Redskins for a pair of draft picks.

Taylor expressed on video how unsatisfied he was with losing. Going from the 1-15 Dolphins to a Redskins team that has a legit shot at making the playoffs should satisfy Taylor’s hunger for winning.

In return for Miami’s defensive ace, the Dolphins got a second round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and a sixth round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft. Considering that training camp is coming up quickly, the Dolphins were able to get a good package for their disgruntled lineman.

On the Redskins, Taylor’s main job will be rushing the passer. If the 33-year-old defensive end can cause havoc in the 2008 season, Washington will be happy with the trade.

Jason Taylor Video – Taylor to be Traded?

Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins has seen his name in the media a lot in this offseason. Taylor was on Dancing with the Stars and he also was involved in trade talk. With training camp right around the corner, Taylor remains with the Dolphins.

Where will Taylor end up during the 2008 season? It appears as if he’ll remain a Dolphin. When it comes down to it, Miami can use his talents on the field. The Dolphins are trying to improve upon their 1-15 2007 record and Taylor gives the team a good shot at doing that.

Obviously, if another team comes knocking with a big offer, the Dolphins will listen. That doesn’t sound like it will happen, however. The other option is for the Dolphins to release him, but that sounds equally unlikely.

Jason Taylor Interview – Dancing with the Stars

Jason Taylor had an interview recently with ESPN where he talked about his cold relationship with the Miami Dolphins’ management. According to reports, Taylor has only spoken briefly with Bill Parcells and head coach Tony Sparano.

In the interview, Taylor also talks about how he hopes to one day be known more for his acting ability than anything he did on the football field. Dancing with the Stars is another main topic of conversation.

Taylor has skipped a few practices with the Dolphins, which has led to Jason Taylor trade rumors coming out of Miami.

Jason Taylor Trade Rumors – Fantasy Impact

Jason Taylor and the Miami Dolphins look destined for a messy divorce. Jason Taylor has been busy with his appearances on Dancing with the Stars and has been miffed by the lack of communication with the Dolphins’ new management team.

Taylor and Bill Parcells seem to be at odds and new coach Tony Sparano recently said that Taylor wouldn’t be with the team in any future minicamps or practice sessions.

Although Taylor has slowed down in recent years, he’s still arguably the best defensive player on the Dolphins. Miami isn’t likely to be a very good defensive team in 2008, however they will be even worse if they don’t have Taylor.

In terms of fantasy football, the Dolphins defense isn’t draftable at all at this point. Parcells will eventually turn it around but it won’t be an overnight thing. Their defense will be a work in progress for the entire 2008 fantasy football season.

If a good defensive team is able to land Taylor in a trade, Taylor could make a good defensive team a great defensive team. Keep an eye on where Taylor ends up when all is said and done.

Ernest Wilford 2008 Fantasy Projections

After beginning his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ernest Wilford is headed to the Miami Dolphins. Wilford, a big wide receiver who has had a couple of great games on the NFL level, was one of the first signings made by new man in charge Bill Parcells.

Although it hasn’t been made official yet, Wilford is expected to start next to Ted Ginn, Jr., who will be going into his second season. Wilford will be a good complement to Ginn since Ginn is a speedster while Wilford is more of a possession receiver.

Wilford likely won’t be much more than a late round draft pick in fantasy football in 2008. The key will be who the quarterback of the Dolphins will be next season. Will Parcells bring in a veteran or will the job go to a youngster? If a quality veteran is brought aboard, Wilford’s value will rise.

As of right now, Wilford’s 2008 fantasy projections would be in the neighborhood of 800 yards and five touchdowns.
