Rockets and Bucks Trade? – Landry for Villanueva

According to the current NBA rumor mill, there’s a potential deal floating around that has the Houston Rockets trading Carl Landry to the Milwaukee Bucks for Charlie Villanueva. Additionally, the Bucks are likely to be sending Tyronn Lue to the Los Angeles Lakers, with the Lakers sending Chris Mihm to the Rockets and the Bucks also getting either Brent Barry or Luther Head.
Obviously, the two biggest names in this potential trade are Carl Landry and Charlie Villanueva. If Landry lands with the Bucks, he will probably get to play more minutes. In Houston, Landry was stuck behind a lot of …read more

Ron Artest Traded To Rockets – Impact

Ron Artest has been traded to the Houston Rockets in a move that makes the Rockets one of the best teams in the NBA on paper. In return, the Kings received Bobby Jackson, Donte Greene and a future number one draft pick.
The Kings did the trade because in return they get a young player in Greene who shined in the Vegas Summer League, an expiring contract in Jackson (who just happens to be a fan favorite in Sacramento) and a future pick. For the Kings, they get a couple of young pieces without having to add salaries to …read more

Brent Barry Signed By Rockets – Impact

The Houston Rockets have signed veteran guard Brent Barry to a two-year contract that is worth approximately $4 million. Barry spent the last four years with the San Antonio Spurs. In that time span, Barry won two championships with the Spurs.
Barry will step in and help the Rockets hit shots from beyond the three-point line. The Rockets were streaky last season from deep and Barry should help Houston become more consistent. In addition to being a very good shooter, Barry is also a good passer and a good playmaker.
In terms of fantasy basketball, Barry likely won’t …read more

Roger Mason Signs With Spurs – Fantasy Impact

Roger Mason, formerly of the Washington Wizards, signed a two year contract with the San Antonio Spurs for a reported value of $7.4 million. The 27-year-old Mason is coming off of a career year for Washington last season.
In the 2007-08 season, Mason averaged 9.1 points, 1.7 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game. He shot 44.3% from the field and 39.8% from beyond the three-point arc. Mason split most of his time between shooting guard and point guard.
For the Spurs, Mason will play mostly shooting guard for the Spurs. In fact, there is a chance that Mason …read more

Brent Barry Injury Info

While Brent Barry isn’t a very good fantasy basketball player these days, he’s still valuable in leagues that value efficiency. Barry at his advanced age is still a very efficient player who makes few mistakes while on the court. He can also produce point, assists and three-pointers in his limited minutes.
Barry has missed the last two months after injuring his calf for the second time. The reports out of San Antonio are that Barry could begin playing later this week. Although he’ll come off the bench, Barry could still play a 15 to 18 minute role on the Spurs.

Brent Barry – Fantasy Perspective

All of a sudden, Brent Barry is one of the most popular players in the NBA. Teams are tripping over themselves trying to figure out a way to sign him.
How did Barry become a free agent? After being traded to the Seattle Supersonics along with Francisco Elson and a draft pick for Kurt Thomas, the Sonics made another trade that forced them to waive a player. Barry was the player who Seattle decided to waive.
The 36-year-old Barry is a guy who can shoot three-pointers at a great clip. He’s also an accomplished passer and playmaker. Those skills are highly needed …read more

Kurt Thomas to Spurs – Fantasy Perspective

Sometimes trades in the NBA could be considered big trades but don’t make a ripple in the fantasy world. The Kurt Thomas to the San Antonio Spurs trade is one of those trades. While Thomas has been a consistent fantasy option this year, there likely aren’t many fantasy teams that he’s starring on.
And now that he’s going to the Spurs, his fantasy value will drop even further. He was starting and playing relatively big minutes for the Seattle Supersonics. With the Spurs, he likely won’t start right away. In fact, Fabricio Oberto may remain the starter for the rest of …read more

The Fantasy Basketball Stock Watch

From FantasyFanatics.com
Well, All-Star Weekend has come and gone, however, the debate on the “Superman” dunk (was it a dunk or not?) still rages on. As fantasy basketball players, we have bigger concerns on our mind. For one, what are the fantasy effects of all of the blockbuster deals this season? Also, are there any second-half sleepers out there to help you in your league’s stretch run? Here is a look at those questions and more.
Trade Fallout – The Winners:
Kurt Thomas – Power Forward/Center – Spurs – Thomas moves to a team that needs his services in the post. He should …read more

Week 5: Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups

Antonio Daniels, Washington Wizards
Inexplicably, Daniels is still available in a lot of fantasy basketball leagues. If he’s available in your league, pick him up. As long as Gilbert Arenas is out, he’s going to put up very good fantasy numbers.
Andray Blatche, Washington Wizards
The injury to Arenas opened up a lot of doors, including one for Blatche. Blatche is seeing more time and most shots now that Arenas is out. Blatche has the added bonus of being a multi-positional player. Get him while his value is still relatively low.
Jamario Moon, Toronto Raptors
Moon is another player who should be added if …read more
