When involved, Dwayne Bowe is one of the most explosive wide receivers in fantasy football. But Dwayne Bowe fantasy owners are sad right now after it was announced that the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver will miss the next four games due to violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.

Bowe will miss Week 11 against the Steelers, Week 12 against the Chargers, Week 13 against the Broncos and Week 14 against the Bills. Considering that many fantasy football leagues have their playoffs scheduled to begin in Week 14, this is devastating news in the fantasy world.

On the season, Bowe has 33 catches for 466 yards and 4 touchdowns. While he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, he’s definitely a player who is capable of starting on a weekly basis.

Now the question is whether or not it makes sense to keep Bowe or to release him. The answer to that question depends on your specific fantasy football team. If you don’t have depth at wide receiver and you are likely to make the playoffs, keeping Bowe around makes sense. However, if you have wide receiver depth or you need a late season push to make the playoffs, it’d be best to cut ties with Bowe.

Who sees their stock improve due to this news? Chris Chambers. He’s a similar player and could become Matt Cassel’s main target when looking downfield.

QB Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers
Alex Smith struggled last week but he’s at least putting touchdowns on the board. Playing on Thursday this week, he’s a decent start versus the Bears. His long-term ceiling remains relatively high.

RB Ladell Betts, Washington Redskins
With Clinton Portis likely to miss Week 10, Ladell Betts is a quality start against the Broncos. He should get plenty of touches and he looks like he’s running well.

WR Chris Chambers, Kansas City Chiefs
After getting released from the Chargers, Chris Chambers got picked up by the Chiefs and scored two touchdowns just a few days later. Chambers has always been explosive — so there’s a chance he can really help your fantasy team down the stretch.

TE Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins
Following a very difficult start to the season, Anthony Fasano is starting to come around. In Week 10 of the 2009 fantasy football season, Fasano faces the Buccaneers at home — a very good start.

Don’t forget about Matt Hasselbeck. After missing a huge chunk of the season due to injury, he’s going to start this week for the Seahawks. With his wide receivers playing well and his running backs healthy, Hasselbeck has the weapons to have a good game. If you need a starter and he’s on the waiver wire, Hasselbeck is a good start.

RB Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals
While he doesn’t have a very good matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, Cedric Benson is coming off of one of the best games of his career. With Carson Palmer still out injured, Benson will get plenty of touches in the Bengals’ offense. He very well could score a touchdown this week and end up with a decent amount of yards.

WR Chris Chambers, San Diego Chargers
After a very strong start to the season, Chris Chambers has struggled with injuries. But now he’s as healthy as he’s been in weeks and should be able to get back to his old ways. With his speed back, he’s going to be a deep ball threat for the rest of the season. In Week 11, expect Chambers to once again be a big part of the Chargers offense.

TE Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars
Don’t look now but Marcedes Lewis has had at least three catches in each of his last four games. Last week, Lewis even led the Jaguars in receiving yards. As he continues to become a bigger and bigger part of the Jacksonville offense, his fantasy football value in 2008 will continue to rise.

The Rams are alive! Two straight wins and St. Louis looks like a real team. That is great news for Marc Bulger, who now has two legit targets in Torry Holt and rookie Donnie Avery. Bulger still has time to raise his level of play to become a decent fantasy football option.
RB Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints

RB Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
With the news that Reggie Bush will miss at least a couple of weeks, Pierre Thomas now moves into a role where he’ll share carries with Deuce McAllister. While he may not get more than 10 to 12 carries per week, he’ll be a touchdown threat every week.

WR Malcom Floyd, San Diego Chargers
Chris Chambers is down injured and Malcom Floyd is doing a good Chambers impersonation. He’s using his long length to his advantage and is a great target in the end zone. As long as Chambers is out and Philip Rivers remains on fire, Floyd is a good start.

TE Visanthe Shiancoe, Minnesota Vikings
Since Gus Frerotte has taken over as quarterback of the Vikings, Vishanthe Shiancoe has emerged as a very good fantasy football tight end option. If he’s still available on your league’s waiver wire and you need a tight end, be sure to pick him up.

Michael Bennett, who was backing up Larry Johnson in Kansas City, has been dealt to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for what is believed to be a fourth round draft pick. With the multitude of injuries that have hit Tampa Bay’s running backs, Bennett will be in the mix for a starting job with the Bucs.

In the other trade, the San Diego Chargers acquired Chris Chambers from the Miami Dolphins for a future draft pick. The pick is reportedly a second rounder. Chambers has always shown a lot of potential and has had some very good fantasy seasons. If he can get a starting job with the Chargers, he could become a big part of that offense very quickly.

Grab Bennett off the waiver wire, if by chance he’s available, or look to make trades, as these two players could give your fantasy team a big boost.
