Derek Fisher, the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been suspended for Game 3 of the second round series between the Lakers and the Houston Rockets. Fisher found himself in hot water after decking Houston’s Luis Scola. Watch the video at the end of this entry to see what got Fisher suspended.
In the fantasy basketball world, Fisher hasn’t been much of an asset in the 2009 NBA playoffs. In seven postseason games, the point guard is averaging 9.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 42.9% from the floor and 26.1% from beyond the arc.

Roger Mason, Jr. is making a habit of hitting big shot for the San Antonio Spurs. His latest big shot was a game-winning three-point play against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Los Angeles Lakers are about to begin their play in the 2008 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Who have been the best players on the Lakers during their 2008 playoff run? Let’s take a look:
Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant hasn’t only been the best player on the Lakers all season, he’s been the best player in the NBA. He was named 2008 NBA MVP for a reason and he has repeatedly shown that reason throughout the playoffs. He’s averaging more than 30 points and approximately six rebounds and six assists per game in the playoffs.

Kobe Bryant Injury Update – Playoff Injury

Kobe Bryant injured his back in Game 4 against the Utah Jazz but has indicated that he’ll play in Game 5. Bryant was hurt in the first quarter of the game when taking a jump shot.
The back injury obviously limited Bryant in Game 4. The 2008 NBA MVP was 13-for-33 from the floor for the game. In the fourth quarter and overtime, Bryant was 2-for-13. The Los Angeles Lakers ended up losing to the Jazz in overtime and now stand at 2-2 in the best of seven series.

Derek Fisher Injury Info

While Derek Fisher hasn’t missed a game yet for the Los Angeles Lakers, the Lakers are worried about their starting point guard. Fisher has a partially torn tendon in his foot that he is currently trying to play through. The common treatment for his injury is six-to-eight weeks of rest.
So far, Fisher has obviously been hampered by his injury. If he can’t tough it out, the Lakers might be forced to shut him down for at least a couple weeks. Needless to say, this is more bad news for the Lakers on the injury front.
