Jameer Nelson Injury Update – Torn Labrum

Jameer Nelson was having a fantastic season, easily the best of his career. Now his season may be over after an MRI showed that he suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Both the Orlando Magic and fantasy basketball owners have to be crushed by this news.
How long Nelson will be out depends on whether or not he has surgery. If he has surgery, Nelson will most likely miss the rest of the season. If he doesn’t have surgery but instead tries to rehab, he could possibly return in a few weeks. However, without surgery, he will be susceptible …read more

Oklahoma City Thunder – Fantasy Analysis

At 2-23, there isn’t too much for the Oklahoma City Thunder fans to be excited about. That said, they are still in the NBA and they still have players who are relevant in the world of fantasy basketball.
The big two on the team are obviously Kevin Durant and Jeff Green. They are somewhat similar players — long, athletic and dripping with talent. Right now, Durant is the better fantasy player but Green isn’t too far behind. Durant is the better scorer and has better percentage but Green gets more rebounds, assists and steals.
Other than Durant and Green, there aren’t too …read more

PJ Carlesimo Fired – Fantasy Impact

PJ Carlesimo got fired recently as head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder at 1-13 currently have the worst record in the NBA. With the new hometown fans growing restless, general manager Sam Presti decided to make a move.
A few stories around the team indicate that the players had quit on Carlesimo and weren’t giving a good enough effort. New coach Scott Brooks will try to turn that around and make the Thunder at least a respectable basketball team.
As far as fantasy basketball is concerned, there were a few subtle difference right away with Brooks in charge. First …read more

Most Surprising Point Guards in Fantasy Basketball

Rafer Alston, Houston Rockets
The Rockets are on a 20-game winning streak and one of the biggest reasons is the play of Rafer Alston. Alston struggled a bit earlier in the season but he’s playing great right now. Over the last month or so, Alston has really improved and he has become a quality fantasy option.
Beno Udrih, Sacramento Kings
The Kings gave a lot of reasons for why they traded Mike Bibby, but perhaps the biggest reason was because the team thinks it has found a better point guard in Beno Udrih. Udrih is a player who can score, …read more

Sleeper Point Guards – February 2008

Earl Watson, Seattle Supersonics
Watson has been starting for the Sonics for a while now and has slowly improved since the start of the season. He still doesn’t shoot for a high percentage and his offense remains erratic, however his assists numbers have gone up nicely as of late. With the Sonics winning more games lately, Watson has a chance to be a decent fantasy point guard.
Earl Boykins, Charlotte Bobcats
As I talked about in this blog entry, Boykins has a chance to be a very sneaky pickup this season. Considering he’s available in most leagues, picking up Boykins is the type …read more

Seattle Supersonics: Fantasy Perspective

The Sonics are a young team that is difficult to figure out. After two games, there are still a lot of questions. That said, the picture is about to get clearer. Here is a look at each of the major players:
Kevin Durant
Durant has looked pretty good in his first two games. He’s not going to do much other than score but there’s no reason why he can’t average 18 to 22 points this season.
Chris Wilcox
Wilcox seems to really be playing well this season. He’s more involved and is playing better defense. He looks like a very good fantasy player this …read more
