It’d be difficult to get much hotter than DeAngelo Williams is right now. He has 11 touchdowns in his last six games. In five of those six games, he rushed for more than 100 yards. In the other one, he had four touchdowns.

Although Briant Westbrook went through a slump, he’s come up huge the last two weeks. He has six total touchdowns during the span — three rushing and three receiving. He also has more than 330 total yards in the last two weeks.

3. Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
In the last four weeks, Pierre Thomas has six touchdowns. Even with Reggie Bush back in the lineup, Thomas is getting a lot of action. Although he doesn’t get as many touches as featured backs, the fact that he’s in a high-powered offense makes up for it.

4. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
Michael Turner has eight touchdowns in the last five weeks. In the one game he didn’t score a touchdown over that span, he had 120 rushing yards. On the season, Turner already has 12 touchdowns and 1269 rushing yards.

5. Thomas Jones, New York Jets
In the last nine weeks, Thomas Jones has 13 touchdowns to his name. He has at least one touchdown in eight of those nine games. In the one game he didn’t have a touchdown, he had a season-high 159 yards rushing.

On one hand, you have LaDainian Tomlinson who has been a fantasy football stud for many years. On the other hand, you have Adrian Peterson who showed limitless potential in his rookie season in the NFL. Which one do we choose right now?

1. LaDainian Tomlison – He’s been too good for too long to pass up.
2. Adrian Peterson – He has as much upside as any player in 2008.
3. Steven Jackson – Struggled in 2007 but should bounce back.
4. Brian Westbrook – Only injury concerns keeps him from top three.
5. Joseph Addai – Role should get even bigger this year for Colts.
6. Marion Barber III – Touchdown should be plentiful in 2008.
7. Larry Johnson – Can he bounce back and become a force?
8. Clinton Portis – Portis is underrated and could shine again.
9. Frank Gore – Mike Martz makes Gore a riskier pick than usual.
10. Marshawn Lynch – If he stays out of trouble, he’ll produce.

Fantasy owners everywhere have been had a hard time keeping up with the multiple running backs they have been forced to use so far this season. Now, after what was an amazing start to his rookie season, Adrian Peterson finds him name on the already long list of injured “stud” running backs.

The lone bright spot for the disappointing Minnesota Vikings was almost a shoe-in for the Rookie of the Year award during the offseason and hopefully, for his sake, this setback does not end his chances.

According to the Star-Tribune Peterson felt like he could return to Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers if needed, but head coach Brad Childress decided to keep him on the sideline. There was really no reason to take a chance on sending the youngster back into a game the Vikings had little to no chance of making a comeback in.

The question now becomes, how hurt is he?

Reports on his injured knee are all over the map right now! So far we have heard that he could have played again Sunday if needed, the team says he is out “at least one week”, and Coach Childress says Peterson tore the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.

Now I am no doctor and I do not know exactly what your lateral collateral ligament is, but that sounds like an injury that will keep a running back out for longer than just one week. Peterson now finds himself on the list of injured running backs that includes: Larry Johnson (foot), Shaun Alexander (knee), Ronnie Brown (knee), Travis Henry (knee), etc.

Fantasy owners everywhere are shaking their head at the fact they are now relying on the likes of Chester Taylor and Maurice Morris to get them through the next few weeks and hopefully into the playoffs. Adrian is probably receiving hundreds of “get well” wishes from Fantasy GMs worldwide in hopes that he will make it back in time to lead their team to a championship.

That may be encouraging for the rookie RB since his NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings, are on the outside looking in (to put it nicely) when it comes to the playoffs, so the Fantasy World may give him his only shot to taste the postseason.
