Brett Favre Injury Update - Fatigued Arm

After his fifth practice with the New York Jets, Brett Favre indicated he was suffering from a fatigued arm. Despite the fatigue, Favre is expected to play in the Jets’ next preseason game.
The fact that Favre is suffering from a fatigued arm shouldn’t be too surprising considering he’s 38-years-old and didn’t play much football during the offseason. Arm fatigue at this point of the preseason shouldn’t affect his 2008 fantasy football draft stock much one way or the other.
Even though all the reports regarding Favre are positive, he remains best suited to be a backup fantasy football quarterback. While he certainly has the potential to put up good numbers this season, it would be risky to ride your hopes on his right arm.
Keep an eye on Favre during the preseason. If he looks extra sharp and has good rapport with his wide receivers, you might consider bumping him up in your fantasy football cheat sheets.

The latest news in the Brett Favre drama are the reports that the Green Bay Packers are now actively trying to trade Brett Favre. Those reports also indicate that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has asked the Packers to settle the Favre drama before the start of training camp.
If the Packers end up trading Favre, don’t expect Green Bay to get a lot in return. While Favre may still be a very good quarterback, he is up in age and he may only have one more year of play left in his body. Plus it will take a perfect situation for Favre to fit in.
Where will Favre end up? There are a number of possible Brett Favre trade destinations, however a few teams that appear interested include the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers.
With training camp right around the corner and Goodell wanting an end to this drama, expect to here more news one way or another soon enough.

The Brett Favre situation in Green Bay with the Packers is still a long ways away from being resolved. As it stands, Favre has asked for his release and the Packers denied his request.
Now what? One of four scenarios will likely play out over the next few weeks.
1. Brett Favre decides to stay retired. This could happen if Favre thinks it’ll be too difficult to unretire and he decides to stay retired for good.
2. The Packers release Favre. While the Packers have denied his release once, they may be pressured to give Favre his wish.
3. The Packers trade Favre. If the Packers don’t want Favre back but Favre wants to play, Green Bay may opt to trade him to a team Favre agrees to go to.
4. Favre returns as the Packers’ starting quarterback. While this may not be a likely scenario, it definitely is possible.

Are The Packers Better Without Brett Favre?

With the news recently regarding Brett Favre and his comeback possibility, some have begun to wonder aloud whether the Green Bay Packers should welcome him back with open arms. Common sense says that you should always open the door if one of the best players of all-time wants to return, but this scenario is a bit different.
For the first time, it appeared that the team and the city of Green Bay had moved on and were ready to tackle life without Favre quarterbacking the team. Although it was difficult for everyone to swallow it at first, the Packers finally seemed at peace with the idea of not having Favre.
Green Bay is also a very young team. Favre, even if he comes back, would only be back for a season or two. If the Packers don’t believe they can win a championship in that time frame, doesn’t it make more sense to start preparing for the next five to ten years instead?
Additionally, the Packers have a young quarterback in Aaron Rodgers who is anxiously waiting to show what he can do. The team has already started adjusting their offense to maximize Rodgers’ strengths.
Now seems like the perfect time for the Packers to celebrate Favre’s legacy and move on to the next chapter in their franchise’s history. However, if Favre potentially knocking on the door, it’ll be difficult for the team to turn him away.
Here is a video regarding what Green Bay Packers fans think of the situation:
Brett Favre to Unretire? Green Bay Packers

As we have speculated numerous times here at TheFantasyKickoff, Brett Favre may not be done with the NFL just yet. Reports have surfaced that Favre may unretire and rejoin the Green Bay Packers.
Favre retired after the 2007 NFL season and most everyone closed the door on his football career. However, there have been rumblings virtually from the day he retired that Favre could come back.
Since Favre retired, the Packers have handed the starting quarterback job over to Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is a talented quarterback, however he has very little experience on the NFL level. If Favre returns to Green Bay, expect Rodgers to return to his backup role.
In terms of fantasy football, Favre returning would have a big impact. His fantasy worth is rather high, especially after a very good 2007 campaign. The wide receivers on Green Bay would be worth more with Favre throwing the passes. The Packers as a team would be considered championship contenders if Favre decides to return.

Could Brett Favre decide to unretire and return to the Green Bay Packers to complete his comeback?

A report has surfaced that has placed Brett Favre in Vikings minicamp. No, not as a player. Instead Favre was fielding questions.
Although he denied any comeback attempt is imminent, it is interesting to hear him back around the game. Earlier reports indicate that Favre may unretire, however that is looking more and more like a longshot.
If Favre is going to come back to the game, we should start hearing rumblings in the next few months. For now at least, Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
Here is an video of Rodgers when he sat down with Jim Rome for an interview:
