Patriots Running Backs – Fantasy View

Heading into the 2009 fantasy football season, no one knew what to expect from the New England Patriots running backs. We didn’t know who would start, who would get touches and if any of them were worth a fantasy roster spot.
On Monday night, we started getting answered. Heading into the game, Sammy Morris supposedly was the starting running back. In typical Bill Belichick fashion, Morris didn’t even get a carry. Instead, he spent most of his time at full back.
Laurence Maroney, who was listed fourth on the depth chart, ended up getting the most carries. On his ten carries, he …read more

Fred Taylor to the Buffalo Bills? Fantasy Analysis

Fred Taylor recently visited the Buffalo Bills and is said to be interested in signing as a free agent. Even though Marshawn Lynch is the starter in Buffalo, Taylor said he wouldn’t mind playing in more of a mentoring role.
Taylor was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the month and is free to sign with any team. In addition to the Bills, the New England Patriots and New York Jets are said to have interest. Although Taylor would like a starting job, there’s only a slight possibility that he can land such a job.
The Bills interest in Taylor might …read more

Fred Taylor Waived by Jaguars – Fantasy Analysis

In the 2007 fantasy football season, Fred Taylor of the Jacksonville Jaguars was one of the surprises of the year. He ran strong and even made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.
Going into 2008, Taylor’s stock was as high as it was in a few years. But after an underwhelming season, Taylor has been waived by the Jaguars. Taylor will likely sign on with another team and play a backup role.
However, the big news in this NFL transaction is the fantasy football status of Maurice Jones-Drew. In his first few years in the league, Jones-Drew …read more

Top Fantasy Players in Week 6 2008

QB Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Although the Cowboys had a tough loss against the Arizona Cardinals, quarterback Tony Romo had a good day fantasy football wise. He had 321 yards and three touchdowns, including a late 70-yard connection with running back Marion Barber III.
RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars
Early in the game, Fred Taylor got shaken up and ended up missing most of the contest. Maurice Jones-Drew stepped in and filled in admirably, as he finished with 148 yards and two touchdowns. When given a healthy amount of touches, Jones-Drew is as deadly as any fantasy running back in the NFL.

Underrated Fantasy Running Backs for 2008

Jerious Norwood, Atlanta Falcons
A lot of fantasy football owners will give up on Jerious Norwood ever getting a shot with the Falcons. However, 2008 really should be the year of the Jerious. After another very good season, the Falcons owe it to their team to give Norwood a big role to see how he reacts.
Fred Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars
It seems like Fred Taylor is underrated every season. Expect that to hold true in 2008. While Maurice Jones-Drew gets all the publicity, Taylor is the workhorse on the team and is arguably the best player on the team.
Laurence Maroney, New England Patriots

Playoff Fantasy Football – Injury Update

QB Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Romo hurt his thumb late in the regular season and his play suffered down the stretch. It’s tough to say whether the injury caused the poor play or whether it was simply a case of the Cowboys winding down in preparation for the playoffs. Whatever the truth is, Romo had one touchdown and five interceptions in his final three games. Can he turn it around against the New York Giants? Chances are he will but that thumb injury could make him a dangerous start.
WR Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys
Owens is considered a game-time decision after suffering …read more
