Dolphins Select Jake Long – 2008 NFL Mock Draft Update

With the first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins have selected Jake Long out of the University of Michigan. The Dolphins made it official by signing him to a five-year, $58 million deal – of which approximately $30 million is guaranteed.
While a lot of other players appeared to be in the mix about a month ago, Long had become the team’s first option in the last few weeks. After agreeing to a deal, the suspense was over.

1) Miami Dolphins – Glenn Dorsey
Although the Dolphins need a lot of help, Bill Parcells will look at Glenn Dorsey and see a guy who can anchor his defensive line for the next decade.

With the number two pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams are in a unique position. While their team likely isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl, the team also isn’t as bad as their record last year indicates. The Rams ended up with the second worst record in the NFL mostly due to injuries.

While we don’t know the exact order of the top five picks, here’s an early look at which player each team is likely to pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are locked into the first spot of the draft and Bill Parcells is now calling the shots in Miami. With Parcells at the helm, the Dolphins will probably go ahead and select the best football player in the draft. As of now, that player appears to be LSU’s Glenn Dorsey. A defensive tackle, Dorsey has a shot to be a dominant defensive player on the NFL level.
