Week 15 Fantasy Football Injuries

RB Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
Already ruled out for Week 15 of the fantasy football season, be sure to take Brandon Jacobs out of your fantasy starting lineup. Expect Derrick Ward to get the start, although Ahman Bradshaw will likely also get a number of carries.

RB Marion Barber III, Dallas Cowboys
Marion Barber III took some criticism last week for not playing. Considering that fact, there’s a good chance he’ll do his all to play in Week 15. The backup running back option for the Cowboys is currently Tashard Choice.

QB Gus Frerotte, Minnesota Vikings
Listed as doubtful, it doesn’t appear as if Gus Frerotte is going to be able to play in Week 15 for the Vikings. In his place, expect Tarvaris Jackson to get the start at quarterback. Given Jackson’s shaky history, look elsewhere for a fantasy football starter.

QB Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Although Jeff Garcia is listed as questionable, it sounds like he’ll be able to play in Week 15. If he doesn’t play, Brian Griese would likely start. However, there’s a possibility that Luke McCown would get the nod.

Waiver Wire Starters – Week 1 Fantasy Football

If your fantasy football draft didn’t go as planned, here are some fantasy football players who should be able to help you in Week 1. Best of all, these players should be available on your league’s waiver wire.

Quarterback – Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs are going against the New Orleans Saints and the Saints are known for their defensive prowess. Jeff Garcia started well last season and could start well again this year.

Running Back – Andre Hall, Denver Broncos
Although he won’t be the starter, expect Andre Hall to get plenty of opportunities against the Oakland Raiders – especially near the endzone. Don’t be surprised to see him with a touchdown.

Wide Receiver – Courtney Taylor, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are ravaged with injuries at the wide receiver position. For that reason, Courtney Taylor is expected to get a whole lot of chances in Week 1.

Underrated Fantasy Quarterbacks for 2008

Through the next few days, I will do a series abou tthe underrated fantasy players as we look ahead to next fantasy football season. Let’s start out with the quarterbacks.

David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
All season long, David Garrard proved himself as a heady quarterback who doesn’t make mistakes. Late in the season, he proved that he could produce through the air when needed. Heading into 2008, Garrard looks like he should be a solid fantasy quarterback option.

Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
After a rocky season, Philip Rivers showed great courage in the playoffs by playing with a severe injury and likely gained the respect of his teammates. With an improving receiving corps, Rivers could breakout in 2008 for a big year.

Vince Young, Tennessee Titans
Vince Young’s disaster of a season in 2007 will likely scare off most fantasy owners. However, with a new offensive coordinator coming in and wide receivers who are maturing quickly, Young should be much improved in 2008.

Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Age and lack of offensive weapons will likely cause Jeff Garcia’s stock to plummet. But as long as he remains the starter, Garcia should have a quality season. He’s smart and he’s consistent. In a backup role in fantasy football, he’d be a perfect fit.

Fantasy Football Week 13: Injury Update

QB Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Garcia is questionable heading into Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints. If he plays, he’s actually a good start against the Saints’ porous defense. In addition, Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard become startable. If Garcia doesn’t play, that means either Bruce Gradkowski or Luke McCown gets the nod. If either of those quarterbacks get on the field, it’s probably best to bench everyone on offense for the Bucs.

RB Travis Henry, Denver Broncos – The Broncos are playing the Oakland Raiders this week. If you haven’t been paying attention, the Raiders are an atrocious defensive squad against the run. Whoever starts for the Broncos is a good start. Right now it looks like it could be Henry but if he misses the game due to injury, Selvin Young is next in line.

WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals – Fitzgerald is questionable for Week 13 with a groin injury. If he isn’t able to suit up versus the Cleveland Browns, all of a sudden Bryant Johnson becomes a good start in his place. Anquan Boldin would also be upgraded against the weak Browns defense. Obviously, Kurt Warner’s value will be higher if Fitzgerald plays, but either way he’s a good start.

TE Todd Heap, Baltimore Ravens – Heap has been plagued for most of the year with a hamstring injury. He’s questionable this week against the New England Patriots on Monday night, so he’s a highly risky play. Even if he were probable, it’d be best to stay away. Heap shouldn’t be started in fantasy football again until he proves he’s capable of playing an entire game.

Week 12: NFL Injury Report

QB Marc Bulger, St. Louis Rams – Bulger suffered a concussion early in the game on Sunday. He was replaced by Gus Frerotte, who played decently in relief. The Rams may opt to keep Bulger out in Week 13 due to the concussion, but there’s a chance he toughs it out and plays.

QB Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Garcia was hurt on one of the first plays of the game. He scrambled and took a shot to the back. The good news is that Garcia was able to return to action. However, you should still keep an eye on his injury status going into Week 13.

RB Cedric Benson, Chicago Bears – Benson left the game with a leg injury. Benson, who has struggled for much of the season, was replaced by Adrian Peterson. Early indications are the injury could be serious, so pickup Peterson if you are a Benson owner.

WR Troy Williamson, Minnesota Vikings – Williamson suffered a head injury against the New York Giants. Although Williamson doesn’t have much fantasy value, he’s a decent big play option when healthy. However, Week 13 isn’t the time to hope for that big play.

TE George Wrighster, Jacksonville Jaguars - Wrighster suffered a knee injury in Week 12. Wrighster, the second tight end in Jacksonville, isn’t much of a fantasy option even when he’s healthy. Although if he misses time, his blocking skills will be missed.
