Kobe Bryant Steal and Dunk Video – Foul?

Kobe Bryant had a huge steal and a dunk to seal the win for the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5. The Boston Celtics, who remain one win away from winning the 2008 NBA championship, lost the game 103-98. The Celtics will go home and play two games in front of their home fans. One win and they are champions.

However, take a second to watch this Kobe Bryant video. It looks like he may have fouled Paul Pierce when he reached in for the steal. And guess who was on the floor? Dick Bavetta, the ref who the FBI is investigating.

Best Players on the Los Angeles Lakers 2008

The Los Angeles Lakers are about to begin their play in the 2008 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Who have been the best players on the Lakers during their 2008 playoff run? Let’s take a look:

Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant hasn’t only been the best player on the Lakers all season, he’s been the best player in the NBA. He was named 2008 NBA MVP for a reason and he has repeatedly shown that reason throughout the playoffs. He’s averaging more than 30 points and approximately six rebounds and six assists per game in the playoffs.

Pau Gasol
In the steal of the century, the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies for a bunch of spare parts. Gasol has come to Los Angeles and has proven to be the missing piece. During the playoffs, he’s averaging 17.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

Lamar Odom
Lamar Odom has never been the world’s most consistent player player but he has been quite consistent during the playoffs. He’s playing the best basketball of his career and seems to be thriving in the triangle offense. He’s averaging 14.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

Derek Fisher
The Lakers needed a veteran point guard to run their ship and this past offseason they re-acquired Derek Fisher to do just that. Fisher has proven to be a steady hand who can play defense, hit the open shot and provide toughness. During the playoffs, he’s averaging ten points per game and is hitting 55.9% on three-pointers.

Kobe Bryant Denies Affair with Vanessa Curry – Kobe Cheats?

Kobe Bryant is on the defensive even before Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. Internet based reports indicate Kobe had an affair with Vanessa Curry, an 18-year-old former Laker Girl. However, Kobe not only denies the report, he has asked the website to take down the story. To date, the website as refused to take down the story and they insist that the story is properly sourced.

Bryant, who won the 2008 NBA MVP, hasn’t let the controversy affect his play. He’s playing great in the playoffs for the Los Angeles Lakers and has his team on the verge of making it to the NBA Finals.

Don’t expect this news to lead to any poor play from Kobe. He’s too mentally tough right now and he seems to be on a mission. Any resolve of this matter will likely come in the offseason.

Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Curry Cheat? Laker Girl Affair

A rumor has begun to circulate that Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers recently had an affair with Vanessa Curry. Although the story has yet to be picked up by any major media outlet, Curry is believed to be a former Laker Girl who had a relationship with Bryant. (Here is a Vanessa Curry picture.)

Bryant, whose wife is also named Vanessa, has admitted cheating on his wife in the past. However, if the affair between Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Curry is proven, this turn of events could be a major distraction for the Lakers.

The Lakers currently lead the San Antonio Spurs 1-0 in the Western Conference Finals. Los Angeles trailed by 20 points in the third quarter before Bryant and the Lakers made a run to beat the Spurs by a final score of 89-85.

For Bryant’s sake, hopefully this is just a vicious rumor. Otherwise, Kobe’s MVP season may become known for something other than his exploits on the basketball court.

Western Conference Finals 2008 Preview and Prediction

In the Western Conference Finals two old arch enemies collide – the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers come to the WCF after beating the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz. The Spurs arrive after knocking off the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Hornets.

Obviously, the best player in the series is Kobe Bryant. Bryant, who won the 2008 NBA MVP, is playing at an amazingly high level. He’s shooting very well from the field and more importantly, he is getting his teammates involved better than ever.

The Lakers also owe a lot of their success to Pau Gasol. Gasol, who was acquired in a mid-season trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, has been fantastic in the playoffs. He gives the Lakers a bigman who can score, rebound, pass and defend. He’s basically playing a similar role to what Shaquille O’Neal used to do next to Bryant.

The Spurs, on the other hand, aren’t nearly as exciting. Their three best players, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, have more substance than style. In their seven-game series against the Hornets, none of the three players played too well. Whether that was due to good defense from the Hornets or poor play will be better understood after the series against the Lakers.

This series will likely ride on which of the teams get better play from the role players. Bryant, Gasol and Lamar Odom versus Duncan, Ginobili and Parker is a pretty even matchup. It’s likely that the other players on the teams will decide who is victorious.

If forced to pick a winner, I’ll go with the Spurs in seven games. The Spurs are the champions until someone beats them – which the Lakers are very capable of doing.

Kobe Bryant Injury Update – Playoff Injury

Kobe Bryant injured his back in Game 4 against the Utah Jazz but has indicated that he’ll play in Game 5. Bryant was hurt in the first quarter of the game when taking a jump shot.

The back injury obviously limited Bryant in Game 4. The 2008 NBA MVP was 13-for-33 from the floor for the game. In the fourth quarter and overtime, Bryant was 2-for-13. The Los Angeles Lakers ended up losing to the Jazz in overtime and now stand at 2-2 in the best of seven series.

Although Bryant plans to play in Game 5, his effectiveness level won’t be known until after the game is underway. There’s a good chance that he’ll be close to 100% as the Game 4 injury could have just been isolated spasms. If Bryant isn’t 100%, the Lakers could be in jeopardy of losing a vital game in their series.

Injuries have been a season long story for the Lakers. Andrew Bynum is injured and will miss the rest of the playoffs. Trevor Ariza is also battling injury. Derek Fisher and Pau Gasol have been slowed at times due to injury.
