2009 NBA Power Rankings – Top Five

1. Los Angeles Lakers
With recent wins against the Celtics and Cavaliers, the Lakers have cemented their place at the top of the 2009 NBA Power Rankings for a while. Kobe Bryant is playing MVP level basketball and has to be considered a 2009 NBA MVP favorite.
2. Boston Celtics
Despite recent Lakers and the Spurs, the defending NBA champions are still a great basketball team. Once the playoffs start, Boston will once again be an extremely tough team to eliminate. Right now, they are suffering a bit because their defense has dropped off as of late.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups

Here are five players who have started to breakout and should be looked at as potential waiver wire pickups:
Andray Blatche, Washington Wizards
Blatche busted out in a big way on Tuesday. Against the Philadelphia 76ers, Blatche had 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a block. Equally impressive was his shooting – 12-of-14 from the field, including 1-for-1 from three-point land. Brendan Haywood turned an ankle during the game, which could spell more playing time for Blatche. Pick him up if you have the chance.
