In Game 2 against the Chicago Bulls, Powe suffered a knee injury that was later diagnosed as a torn ACL and a torn meniscus in his left knee. Depending on how the surgery goes, there’s a chance that Powe might not be able to begin next season on the active roster.

Powe now joins Kevin Garnett in street clothes. Garnett is dealing with his own knee injury that will likely keep him out for the postseason as well. Without both Powe and Garnett, the Celtics’ chances of winning back-to-back titles appear to be extremely slim.

During the regular season, Powe averaged 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in 70 contests.

The Celtics are currently tied with the Bulls at 1-1 in the best out of seven first round series.
