Leon Powe Injury Update – Torn ACL

The Boston Celtics are down another bigman. Leon Powe, who played a large role in the Boston Celtics taking home the 2008 NBA championship, will miss the rest of the 2009 postseason.
In Game 2 against the Chicago Bulls, Powe suffered a knee injury that was later diagnosed as a torn ACL and a torn meniscus in his left knee. Depending on how the surgery goes, there’s a chance that Powe might not be able to begin next season on the active roster.

Kevin Garnett Injury Info – Fantasy Impact

Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics is dealing with an injured knee that will sideline him for two to three weeks. Garnett’s injury is a strained muscle behind his right knee and while it isn’t considered serious, he has to take his time rehabbing it to make sure it doesn’t get worse.
This is obviously bad news for both the Celtics and Garnett fantasy owners. Although Garnett isn’t having a hugely impressive statistical season, he’s arguably the piece of the puzzle that makes Boston tick.

PER has proven to be a pretty good measurement of a basketball player’s ability. It’s especially useful to help find players who could breakout once given more playing time. Here are some players that have high PER’s but low minutes per game average.
Marreese Speights, Philadelphia 76ers, 20.68 PER
Throughout the season, Speights has had a high PER. The fact that he’s consistently led all rookies means that he’s probably the real thing. For every 40 minutes he plays, he’s putting up 40 points and 10 rebounds. Keep an eye on any spike in minutes played because he has shown star potential.

Boston Celtics Injury Updates – NBA Finals

With the Boston Celtics up 3-1 in the 2008 NBA Finals, not all the news is good for the Celtics. Three of their main players — Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce — are dealing with injuries. Perkins and Rondo weren’t able to finish Game 4 in which the Celtics had the great comeback in the history of the NBA Finals.

Leon Powe Dunk Over Pau Gasol Video

Leon Powe of the Boston Celtics had a night to remember in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The second year forward not only had this vicious dunk over Pau Gasol, he played extremely well overall.
In 15 minutes, Powe had 21 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field. The Celtics, led in part by Powe’s dominance of the bench, beat the Lakers 108-102 to go up 2-0 in the 2008 NBA Finals.
