Winslow didn’t show up for a few organized team activities recently. Although the activities aren’t mandatory, there is speculation that Winslow’s absence is contract related.

Last season, Winslow had a very good fantasy football campaign. He had 82 catches, 1106 yards and five touchdowns. The 24-year-old tight end out of Miami became one of the best fantasy tight ends in the NFL.

Early in Winslow’s career, he suffered from a number of serious injuries. During that time, the Browns restructured Winslow’s contract. Now that Winslow has his career back on track, it’s possible that Winslow wants a bump in pay.

If Winslow doesn’t start showing up in Cleveland for workouts, his fantasy football stock will start dropping. Winslow has a history of questionable off the field moves and he could be aiming toward a contract hold out. If that’s the case, it’s unlikely that the Browns will budge.

As it stands, Winslow is one of the best fantasy football tight ends heading into the 2008 NFL season. If this contract dispute comes to fruition, who would the Browns look at to fill Winslow spot at tight end? One option is Martin Rucker, a fourth round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

1. Fred Davis, USC
A possible first round draft pick, Davis is arguably the best tight end prospect in the 2008 NFL Draft. He’s athletic and quick with good speed, although he could afford to get a big stronger.

2. Martin Rucker, Missouri
Rucker isn’t very big nor is he very fast but he’s a very solid football player. He’s the type of player who can come up with the big catch when it’s needed most. He’ll need to get stronger to truly flourish in the NFL, though.

3. John Carlson, Notre Dame
Notre Dame had a disastrous season last year, Carlson was one of the few bright spots. He’s a very heady tight end with good athleticism who would be a safe pick in the draft. His stock could rise depending on his combine results.

4. Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M
Bennett has great size at over 6-foot-7 and 252 pounds. His combination of size and athleticism gives him the chance to be as good as anyone on this list. Keep an eye on him as he could start climbing the draft charts.

5. Jermichael Finley, Texas
Finley has a huge amount of talent but was mysteriously underutilized at the University of Texas. Perhaps some of that was his fault but the offense didn’t seem geared to getting him the ball. However, some team in the NFL will take a chance on him.
