If Harrison leaves the Colts, his fantasy football value would severely dip. As it is, Harrison isn’t worth much in the fantasy football world. In 2008, Harrison had a very underwhelming campaign. At 36, it appears as if Harrison’s days as an elite receiver are over.

Reggie Wayne’s fantasy value would rise if Harrison were to be released. The big winner would be Anthony Gonzalez, who would likely move into a starting role. Gonzalez would suddenly become a relatively good fantasy football wide receiving prospect.

As far as Harrison on another team, he’d have to land in a perfect situation to have any fantasy appeal. Even if he lands a role as a starting receiver, it’d be hard to imagine him being worth more than a middle to late fantasy draft pick.

QB Rex Grossman, Chicago Bears
The Bears are going up against the best defensive team in the NFL when they take on the Tennessee Titans. On top of that, a number of their top wide receivers are struggling with injuries. All told, there really isn’t a good reason to start Rex Grossman this week, who’s filling in for the injured Kyle Orton.

RB Julius Jones, Seattle Seahawks
Even though Julius Jones and the Seahawks seemingly have a decent matchup against the Miami Dolphins, don’t get suckered into starting him. Jones has slowly lost his grip on the running back job and is now simply a part time running back in a bad offense. He’s destined to get only about 40 yards with no touchdown this week.

WR Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts
Marvin Harrison has been a great fantasy football player for a long time. But his reign has a top receiver is finished. He has lost a step and is now a very average wideout option for Peyton Manning. He may get a few more touchdowns on the season and could have another big game but he’s a shadow of his former self. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a good time to sit him.

TE Zach Miller, Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are simply a mess right now. Avoid starting any of their players if you can. They got shutout last week and there’s no promise that another similar type performance isn’t going to happen this week. Zach Miller is talented but stay away until the Raiders show life.

Using my metaphoric crystal skull, here are my spoilers and predictions concerning current events in the football world. If you don’t have a crystal skull to play along with, you can always use the old school crystal ball.

1. Marvin Harrison will have a bounce back season. Although Marvin Harrison is currently in legal trouble, I see Harrison being cleared of all wrongdoing. He’ll enter the 2008 fantasy football season as somewhat of a sleeper and wills surprise.

2. Vince Young will be a top ten fantasy quarterback. He looked really bad in his second season and stories about a drunk Vince Young don’t exactly make Tennessee Titans coaches or fans feel good, but Young will bounce back. He’s too talented and he’s too much of a natural winner to not figure things out.

3. Michael Strahan won’t retire. There’s talk about Michael Strahan retiring but it’s just too difficult to imagine him walking away from a Super Bowl team. Expect the New York Giants to give him a pay raise and for him to stick around.

4. Darren McFadden will easily become the best player from the 2008 NFL Draft. McFadden will make the Oakland Raiders look smart. He’ll have a nice rookie season but will really blossom in years two and three.

5. The New England Patriots will win the 2008 Super Bowl. With Spygate all but over and the bitter taste of defeat in their mouth, the Patriots will come back stronger and finish the deal in 2008.

Reports have stated that there is evidence that Harrison could possibly be involved in a shooting that took place in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Harrison has steadfastly maintained his innocence and the police in the city of Philadelphia have stated that Harrison isn’t a suspect in the incident. However, until Harrison is totally cleared, his fantasy football stock value remains at an all-time low.

In addition to his potential legal troubles, Harrison is coming off of a season in which he struggled mightily with injuries. He had the least productive season of his career and some fear that age may have finally caught up to the wily wide receiver.

If Harrison misses any time during the 2008 NFL season due to legal issues or injury, Reggie Wayne’s fantasy football value rises immensely since he’ll become by far the best option for Manning in the Colts’ passing game.

However, despite the denial by Harrison’s agent, other reports have indicated that a gun owned by Harrison may have been linked to the shooting. Witnesses have also reportedly put Harrison at the scene of the crime.

According to reports, Marvin Harrison of the Indianapolis Colts is being questioned in a shooting that occurred in his hometown of Philadelphia. The shooting happened at an establishment owned by Harrison and resulted in a victim being shot in the hand. Although the victim reportedly didn’t name Harrison as the subject, ballistic tests show that Harrison’s gun was used.

Obviously, this is both surprising and damaging news for Harrison in fantasy football. Harrison has always been thought of as a low-key personality on and off the field. That he’d be a subject in a shooting is extremely surprising.

At least in the short term, Harrison’s fantasy football stock will plummet. He’s already recovering from a knee injury and this is just another negative strike against him. At 35, age is another concern for Harrison owners.

For the time being, keep an eye on what happens with this situation. If Harrison is charged, his stock obviously will plummet much further. Even if he isn’t changed, this distraction will knock him out of the top ten fantasy football wide receivers heading into the 2008 season.

In the 2007 season, Harrison had the worst year of his career – finishing with 247 yards and one touchdown. He was only able to play five games due to a lingering knee injury.

QB Jake Delhomme, Carolina Panthers
After playing great to begin the season, Delhomme got hurt in the season’s third game against the Atlanta Falcons. Delhomme’s elbow injury eventually required surgery and he was out for the rest of the year. Although the sample size was small, his production in 2007 was great. He had eight touchdowns, one interception and a quarterback rating of more than 110. He had eight touchdowns, one interception and a quarterback rating of more than 110. Delhomme should get a chance to start again in 2008 and could put up big stats.

RB Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
When Ronnie Brown went out with a knee injury, he was one of the best running backs in all of fantasy football. As long as the Dolphins don’t draft Darren McFadden, there’s a good chance Brown will be the man to carry the ball in 2008. In 2007, he played in seven games and had seven touchdowns and yards per carry average over five.

WR Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts
The always dependable Marvin Harrison wasn’t dependable in 2007. In fact, his knee injury sidelined him from Week 8 all the way until the playoffs. Although Harrison is getting up there in age, he should bounce back with a solid 2008 fantasy football season if he can get healthy. With the chips on the line, Peyton Manning likely trusts Harrison more than any receiver on his squad.

TE Todd Heap, Baltimore Ravens
Todd Heap was a huge disappointment in fantasy football last season. He had only one touchdown and less than 250 yards. The biggest culprit was injury. He battled a lingering hamstring issue that forced him to miss the last six games of the season. There’s no way that he does any worse in 2008.

As we head into the meat of the fantasy football season, it’s time to look at some buy low candidates that you can target in trades. These are players who should play very well in the second half of the season, even if their stats to date have been unremarkable.
QB Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins
Campbell had a tough outing against the Arizona Cardinals. Actually, he was horrible. He had less than 100 yards passing and didn’t have a touchdown. That said, he’s a guy who should have a strong second half of the season. That said, he’s a guy who should have a strong second half of the season. Campbell’s schedule gets easier and the banged up receivers on the Redskins will get healthier. Right now, you should be able to acquire him fairly cheaply.

RB Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns
Lewis missed the Browns’ last game with an injured foot. The game before that, Lewis left after one carry due to that same injury. Coming off a bye week, Lewis is a forgotten man in fantasy football. But instead of forgetting about him, you should try to trade for him. He has a very easy schedule and with Cleveland’s offense better than most realize, he should have plenty of opportunities for touchdowns.

WR Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts
So far this season, Harrison’s stats have been far from impressive. He has only 20 catches for 247 yards and one touchdown. He has been slowed by injuries and Peyton Manning has opted for other receivers. However, when the chips are down late in the season, Harrison will be the player Manning looks to for production. Buy him now and reap the rewards later in the season.

Cadillac Williams
Williams injured his knee in a gruesome manner and early reports are that he’s out for the rest of the season. If that is true, that’s a huge blow to not only Tampa Bay but fantasy owners who had Cadillac on their team. The Bucs will go with either Michael Pittman or Earnest Graham at running back from with Williams sidelined.

Marvin Harrison
Harrison isn’t a name you often see on injury reports but he sustained a leg injury against the Broncos. As it stands, his status for Week 5 is unknown. If he misses time, expect more production out of Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and rookie Anthony Gonzalez.

LaMont Jordan
Jordan injured his back and he was still hurting after the game. The Raiders have a bye next week but it’s uncertain if that’ll be enough time for Jordan to recover. If he doesn’t, expect Justin Fargas and Dominic Rhodes to carry the load.

Joseph Addai
Addai suffered what is being called a bruised shoulder. If he misses any time, Kenton Keith will fill in for Addai. Keep an eye on this situation throughout the week.

Alex Smith
Smith, the starting quarterback for the 49ers, is reportedly out for Week 5 with a separated shoulder. In his place, expect Trent Dilfer to get the start. Dilfer was less than impressive in his relief effort and shouldn’t be making many fantasy rosters anytime soon.

Isaac Bruce
Bruce’s status is uncertain for week five after straining his hamstring against the Cowboys. If it’s a serious hamstring pull, this could become a nagging injury for Bruce.
