Surprise, surprise. Brett Favre is reportedly thinking about coming out of retirement to join the Minnesota Vikings. Please stop me if you’ve heard this before.
Even though Favre’s retirement game is getting slightly annoying, if he joins the Vikings and starts for the team at quarterback, he will definitely have a 2009 fantasy football impact.
Even though Favre is 39 years old and far past his prime, he showed glimpses of great play last year with the New York Jets. Compared to the quarterbacks that are currently in Minnesota (Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels), Favre would be an upgrade.
Last year with the …read more
Laveranues Coles Released – Miami Dolphins?

Laveranues Coles is no longer a member of the New York Jets. An unrestricted free agent, Coles is free to sign with any team in the NFL.
Going into the 2008 fantasy football season, Coles was the number one wide receiver on the Jets. Although he had his moments, he never seemed to click with quarterback Brett Favre. The result was a very uneven season that saw his overall production fall.
For New York, this move will likely mean that Jerricho Cotchery will likely become the team’s leading receiver. Cotchery, as a result, gets a boost in his fantasy value with this …read more

2. Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
Although Briant Westbrook went through a slump, he’s come up huge the last two weeks. He has six total touchdowns during the span — three rushing and three receiving. He also has more than 330 total yards in the last two weeks.

QB Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
The only thing that was able to slow down Tony Romo this season was an injured pinkie. When healthy, he’s been the best fantasy football quarterback in the NFL. Although Drew Brees, Kurt Warner and Aaron Rodgers haven’t been too shabby, Romo tops them all when he’s on the field.
RB Thomas Jones, New York Jets
After a relatively slow start to the season, Thomas Jones has been on fire recently and now is atop the running back standings for 2008. In the last six weeks, he has scored at least one time in each week. He already …read more

In fantasy football leagues that score 1 point per 15 yards and 6 points per touchdown, here’s a look at the top five running backs for the 2008 season:
5. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
Although the Niners have had a difficult year, Frank Gore has had a bit of a bounce back season. Last year, he was a fantasy football disappointment but he’s been well worth his preseason draft positions in 2008. Down the stretch, Gore should be a very good option — especially if Shaun Hill can continue having success at quarterback.
4. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
Coming into the 2008 fantasy …read more

During the offseason, Jay Cutler learned he had diabetes and took steps to combat the disease. During the 2008 fantasy football season, he’s looked very, very good. In Week 10, he threw for more than 400 yards and had three touchdown passes. Going forward, he has to be considered a top five quarterback in the fantasy world.
RB Thomas Jones, New York Jets
When you see the final score of 47-3, you probably thought Brett Favre destroyed the St. Louis Rams. While Favre had a pretty good day, it was actually Thomas Jones who did most of the …read more

QB Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
After winning the Super Bowl as a rookie, Ben Roethlisberger has blossomed into a very capable fantasy football quarterback. He’s not going to wow you with pass attempts but he’s a very steady hand who is dependable on a week to week basis. If he’s your starter, he won’t beat you.
RB Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Quietly, Earnest Graham has been very good since becoming a starter. This season, he is averaging over five and half yards per rush. He also has three touchdowns and is a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. He …read more

QB Brett Favre, New York Jets
In Week 4, Brett Favre was amazing. His six touchdown passes reminded the world what he is capable of doing. However, don’t hesitate to sell him high if another fantasy owner comes calling.
RB Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
The last time the 2008 fantasy football world saw Ronnie Brown, he was scoring five touchdowns against the New England Patriots defense. With his value likely never to be higher, now is a good time to try to trade him.
Can Ronnie Brown keep it up or was Week 3 a flash in the pan.

Kyle Orton pleased his fantasy football owners with a three touchdown performance in Week 4. In Week 5, Orton goes against the Detroit Lions, which makes him a nice waiver wire pickup.
RB Mewelde Moore, Pittsburgh Steelers
Willie Parker is hurt and Rashard Mendenhall is now also hurt and out for the season. That leaves the running back job in Pittsburgh to Mewelde Moore. He may be startable until Parker returns.
WR Steve Breaston, Arizona Cardinals
