If you are in a league that plays through Week 17, a couple points here and there from your kicker or D might make a difference in a fantasy football championship. Here are some suggestions who you should play.
K Rob Bironas, Tennessee Titans
The Titans will be trying to win this game. To beat the Indianapolis Colts, they will probably rely on Bironas’ leg. There’s a good chance that Bironas has at least a couple field goals this week. The Colts don’t have much to play for and will likely sit their big names for much of the game.

In this point of the fantasy season, kickers and defenses are more valuable than they were earlier in the year. The reason for that is it’s easier to predict how these positions will produce now that we have 11 weeks of games assess. Early on it’s more of a crapshoot but now there’s actually some numbers behind it.

Week 9: Emergency Kickers and Defenses

If you are looking for a kicker or defense to start this week, due to injuries or byes, these choices would be good in pinch.
K Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers – Reed was hot early in the year but has cooled off over the last couple weeks. However, this week, Reed should see a lot of action. The Steelers are going up against the Baltimore Ravens in what promises to be a battle of the field goal kickers. Both teams have very good defenses and there shouldn’t be many touchdowns being scored.
