Pacman Jones to Cowboys – Fantasy Impact

The Dallas Cowboys and Pacman Jones were finally able to be united. The Cowboys completed a trade with the Tennessee Titans to send the controversial defensive back to Dallas for a fourth round pick.
What type of fantasy football impact will this transaction make in the 2008 season? If Jones is re-instated and wins a starting job with the Cowboys, he makes the Cowboys’ defense much more valuable in the fantasy football world.
While Jones has a lot of problems off of the field, on the field he’s extremely talented and a phenomenal athlete. If Jones gets an interception, he’s very …read more

Seahawks Cut Shaun Alexander – Fantasy Impact

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. Alexander, who struggled through a mediocre 2007 campaign, will be free to sign with another NFL team.
Not too long ago, Alexander was a fantasy football franchise player. He was a top three pick who could be counted on to bring you big points on a weekly basis. Nowadays, it’s unsure whether he’ll be able to land a starting role in the 2008 NFL season.
As far as the Seahawks are concerned, they needed to move on. The fans had grown tired of Alexander and …read more

Samie Parker 2008 Fantasy Projections

The Denver Broncos signed Samie Parker to a contract on Monday. Parker, a 5-foot-11, 190 pound wide receiver, could conceivably battle for a starting position on the Broncos in 2008.
Parker spent the first four seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Parker showed glimpses of potential but never was able to sustain quality play. The Chiefs had decided to move on without the wide receiver.
One reason the Broncos brought in Parker is due to the Brandon Marshall situation. Marshall, who was the lead receiver on Denver last season, suffered an arm laceration while on vacation with his family. …read more

Ben Hartsock 2008 Fantasy Projections

After losing Alge Crumpler to free agency, the Atlanta Falcons signed Ben Hartsock to fight for the starting tight end job in Atlanta. Hartsock played in 2007 with the Tennessee Titans.
While Hartsock doesn’t have a touchdown in his career and only had 12 catches last year, the Falcons are happy to add him to the mix. As of now, there’s a real chance he’ll be the team’s starting tight end.
The best thing about him is his blocking. He’s a very talented blocker at the tight end position. However, blocking doesn’t count in fantasy football. Could he be worthy of a …read more

Mike Vanderjagt Free Agent News

Mike Vanderjagt, the most accurate regular season kicker in NFL history, is once again getting looks from NFL teams. After being out of the league in 2007, Vanderjagt could very well begin kicking once again in 2008.
The team that apparently has the most interest currently is the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have had trouble landing a quality kicker for what has seemed like the last decade. While the 38-year-old Vanderjagt would only be a stopgap fix, he’d likely be an upgrade.
If the Chiefs don’t sign him, the other team said to have interest is the Denver Broncos. The Broncos …read more

Doug Gabriel 2008 Fantasy Projections

The Cincinnati Bengals took their first step in trying to replace the waived Chris Henry by signing Doug Gabriel to a one-year deal. Gabriel, who was out of football in 2007 after being cut in training camp by the Oakland Raiders, will vie for the third wide receiver job in Cincinnati.

In his four years in the NFL, Gabriel has eight touchdowns. He’s known as a speed receiver who can beat most defenders up the field, however his lack of good hands has hurt him since being drafted in 2003 in …read more

Brett Favre Comeback Imminent?

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Brett Favre’s agent has been in quiet talks with NFL teams to see whether there is interest in trading for Favre around the league.
James “Bus” Cook, Favre’s agent, denied the report.
“I don’t think that has anything to do with anything. He’s retired, period, point blank,” Cook the Los Angeles Times.
Favre also denied the claim when speaking with SI.com.
Said Favre: “That’s the last thing I’m thinking about. I have no idea where that came from, but it certainly didn’t come from me. I’m happy about my decision and …read more

Chris Henry Suspended Indefinitely?

Although nothing official has been announced, multiple media sources are reporting that Chris Henry of the Cincinnati Bengals will be suspended indefinitely. Henry, who was arrested yet again earlier in the week, might have played his last game in the NFL.
While Henry has shown an abundance of talent on the football field, his inability to stay out of trouble has haunted him since his college days. He’s been given multiple second chances over the years and now his second chances have likely come to an end.
The Bengals reaction to Henry’s latest arrest was to release him. The rest of the …read more

Ben Utecht 2008 Fantasy Projections

After spending the first three years of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts, Ben Utecht has signed a contract to become a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. Utecht never had a hugely productive season with the Colts, however Peyton Manning trusted him in most situations.
Although Utecht will now have to leave Manning’s side, he’s stepping into a good situation in Cincinnati. The Bengals have a high-powered offense that can really move the ball through the air. These days, the Bengals are probably going to be even more pass oriented than the Colts.
The Bengals could really use Utecht to open …read more

Ben Troupe 2008 Fantasy Projections

Ben Troupe has long been a fantasy football tease. He has an athletic body and all the tools necessary to be star tight end – however it just never translated to the football field. Many an owner has wasted a pick on Troupe over the years.
Ending his disappointing four year run as a member of the Tennessee Titans, Troupe signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Troupe, a 6-foot-4 former second round pick by the Titans, should fit nicely into what the Bucs are going to try to do in 2008.
Troupe will battle with incumbent Alex Smith for the starting tight …read more
