Week 14: Emergency Starters

QB Chris Redman, Atlanta Falcons – Redman is an intriguing option this week. He’s likely to get his first start this week after playing rather well last game coming from off the bench. Against the St. Louis Rams, Redman had two touchdowns and had a quarterback rating of nearly 100. This week he plays the struggling Atlanta Falcons defense, which is very poor against the pass. Redman is the definition of a boom or bust start this week.
RB Chris Brown, Tennessee Titans – Brown shouldn’t be considered unless you are in a true emergency. But …read more

Fantasy Football Injury Update

Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins
Campbell got hurt in the Thursday night game against the Chicago Bears. Preliminary reports indicate that Campbell will be out a while, perhaps the rest of the regular season. In his place, the Redskins will start Todd Collins at quarterback. That’s bad news for Campbell owners because he had started to produce as of late. Collins isn’t startable due to the poor receivers on Washington.
Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
Reports out of New Orleans indicate that Bush has a partially torn tendon in his knee and is almost certainly out this weekend. There …read more

Waiver Wire Kickers and Defenses

K Josh Scobee, Jacksonville Jaguars
Scobee is healthy and kicking well. This week the Jaguars face the Carolina Panthers. While their defense isn’t as good as it’s been in recent years, the Panthers aren’t totally inept. That should allow Scobee to get a couple field goal attempts this game, at least.
K Ryan Lindell, Buffalo Bills
You can’t ask more a much better matchup than the Miami Dolphins at home. Lindell should get plenty of chances this game against the winless Dolphins. The Bills offense isn’t very good, which is always a kicker’s best friend. Look for three field goals this week.
D Buffalo …read more

Preparation vs. Blind Luck

Preparation vs. Blind Luck

You can pour over stats for days all you like, at the end of the day fantasy football pretty much comes down to the luck of the draw.
By Guest Blogger, Ron Bishow
According to a recent report by a Chicago-based employment research firm, fantasy football costs $1.1 billion in lost productivity per week for companies during the NFL season.
Fantasy players spend 10 minutes per day, or almost an hour a week, drafting players, setting rosters and plotting strategy at the office. And that doesn’t even factor in the time they are spending when they are home plotting for next …read more

Week 14: Waiver Wire Pickups

Week 14: Waiver Wire Pickups

QB Luke McCown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With Jeff Garcia sidelined, McCown stepped in for the Bucs and played great in the team’s victory. McCown threw for two touchdowns and for over 320 yards. However, Garcia might come back this week from his back injury. If you pickup McCown, he’d be a decent start in Week 14 if Garcia isn’t able to go.
RB Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
Jackson had a very good game against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. He finished with 82 yards rushing and 69 yards receiving. In Week 14, he’d be a rather nice start …read more
